Not sure what Alert+ has to do with QC issues of the original release, deliberate or otherwise???
No but they weren't presented with that option much earlier on.
See my reply to Noobius Prime.
Dude the original red alert was released 4yrs ago, most of us probably don't have the same cell phone we had 2 yrs ago. Hardly call that forcing someone to double-dip
Dude they can take a page from FT's book and let buyer's know all the versions available within a shorter amount of time. Take off the rose tinted glasses for a moment and call it what it is....a cash grab. It is what it is.
Lol it's pretty certain even TT themselves had no plans for Alert+ edition back when they released the original! The current heavy toon focus wasn't even on the radar back then. It's no more a 'cash grab' than any other repaint.
Which is to say, absolutely 100% a cash grab!! I mean... a company... selling a product it designed... for money... it's kinda what they do!
Damn cash grabbing a-holes! Fail Kobayashi.
And I still dont know what Alert+ plus has to do with the equally silly suggestion that started off this current train of discussion - that the Conehead's QC issues were a deliberate ploy to make people eventually double dip on them when they come out with a fixed version later. I love conspiracies and evil-big-corp bashing as much as the next fella, but... nah.
Agreed. There's no forcing
Though to a lesser extreme and closer to ChromeMagnus' point, for those of us that are toon-centric MP collectors, there wasn't a clear-cut choice for either Mp-14 and MP-14+ from the start. It's not like from the get go there's even an option for get this MP-14 or wait a couple yrs till the "anime-accurate" version. For most, it was pretty much "We'll get it or risk it selling out and paying the after market prices".
FT do that? I sure wish they'd told us about Cesium a few years ago.
Sure they do. Good point but they at least gave us repaint options earlier on.
I think they're on to something here. Takara makes every single decision years in advance, just like every human being on earth does. So, logically, they must have had the plans for every Masterpiece figure already drawn up and in a safe somewhere under Mount Fuji during the 80's. They could have told us to wait for the better, more Toon accurate Masterpiece figures but they knew that they could make more money off of us poor yokels by selling vastly inferior bricks for three decades, getting us all hooked and then biding their time until they could finally spring their trap! And now here we are, "forced" to make life altering decisions in our adulthood.
Oh, what fools we were for not seeing it sooner! Those bastards!
Thank you for being the voice of reason in this discussion!
I don't know if "intentional" is the right word, but it should surprise no one when these coneheads are REISSUED and made available outside of the TTmall exclusive. Whether the QC would be better then, who knows. And for the price point, TT couldn't have thrown in a 50 cent flight stand or megatron gun? That's real stingy. But back to your point, should these reissues be of better quality, no doubt there would be some who would double dip.
No, the bigger F-U would be when TT does a complete 180 and moves away from this toon-centric theme (which will come). I'm surprised they haven't even announced the next figure to get the "plus" treatment. I'm sure Wheeljack is a no brainer.
Takara MP-11ND Dirge, c/o 烙魂Warden on... - DaimChoc Reports - ダイムチョック・リポーツ | Facebook:
goodness, those third party/ko attempts are atrocious
Massive LOL at the 3rd Party attempts .
How the hell did someone get a sample Dirge this early? Gorgeous pics.
I know right? The two on the right are so far off the mark that they might as well not have even bothered!
But, much like the world's ugliest babies, I'm sure someone out there will love them regardless.
That picture of all six of them makes it all worth it.
I think the Yesmodel looks the best and is guaranteed not to be a floppy mess, I wish the same could be said about the official.
I never cared much for the iGear ones but iGear did deliver the coneheads many years before Takara saw fit to even try. They weren't perfect but they were all we had at the time (and the deep red finish on Thrust was pretty toy accurate).
As for the Toyworld seeker - props for trying something different and those that have him in hand say he's solid as hell and a joy to transform.
Seriously guys, just because they're not for you there's no need to shit on everything.
And in the last pic folks , we have the 3rd party fails. But hey , at least there tight , right ? Right ?
