I wanted to do this for a long time, but kept letting this figure slip through my fingers. Thanks to Jcru, I finally got one to throw some paint at.

I've never seen this done before, so I thought it needed to be seen. He's been painted entirely with HoK and Testor's lacquers, and clear coated with Duplicolor Crystal Clear automotive lacquer. I made this for myself to diplay on my shelf, so I opted to focus more on his bot mode than the alt mode (sorry guys, not transforming him.)

For those who've never painted this figure before, it's a giant pain in the ass. The die-cast metal parts make it a pain to solve rub issues, and it has to be one of the most complex figures to take apart and re-assemble. It was fun, but this is one I'm glad is done.

Freaking gorgeous. You might want to grab a set of those repro long smokestacks to go on. But the paint is just so damn awesome. And I know what you mean about the difficulty with this figure. I once took apart an Ultra Magnus.

It's still in pieces over a year later. :D

    But here's my roadmap:

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it.

Yeah, save it for a day when you have a ton of patience, you'll need it. They're the most difficult part before you get to the torso, the "cuff" at the wrist is glued over both halves. You basically have to slide the wrist joint insert back almost 3/4 of the way, then the side without the comm gimmick is usually the one to come off. You have to gently work it back and out, and hope you dont break it.

As a huge Powered Convoy fan, I've had one planned for many years now with this quick and dirty digibash:

I've just never gotten to it. It's nice to see it made, and I hope I can get mine made soon. You really did it justice :)

Well i'd have to say it's cuz you did such a GREAT job, and I think it is a pretty hard figure to paint, that and you dont see many repaints of MP-OP

Wow. That is pretty spectacular. All it needs to be perfect is to remove the faux bumper and grill.
