I have always wanted to do a G1 starcream but always felt reluctant to do so because I didn't just want to repaint him, he is my favorite decepticon so I truly wanted to make him stand out somehow, then I started looking into cel shading and finally decided to stop procrastinating and make the starscream I always wanted, the really cool animeish shiny one in the cartoon, specifically the 1986 movie, cel shaded him from head to toe, modified his hips but kept the ball joints since i like the waist armor that came with the coronation set which I will also be giving the cartoon treatment and will update this thread once I'm done, hope you guys like him, also I added a small hint at my next seeker re-do (he needs it) :)

Amazingly clean paint work man, It wreaks of FrogDNA's style, even with how you did the pictures. Ya forgot the blue nosecone though.
Also... I don't get the thing with his wings being transformed that way. Its not the first time I've seen this done when going for a G1 look. It looks more like the G1 toy that way, (which is not necessarily a good thing IMHO) but he looks more like the cartoon (and outright better) when transformed correctly.

I think he look amazing, and I like the way you have him transformed. It separates this from people bringing up frogDNA's style. While it has similarities in that you both cell shade, this looks completely different to frog's style. Amazing job.

    This picture is AWESOME:

    Thanks!
Thanks so much, Tc will be fun!
    Thanks!
Thank Cass, I also think this brings out starscream more. :)
Thanks FrogDna is a massive inspiration for me trying this style, I did paint his nosecone blue but didn't really like it, I know he's not 100% accurate since I also placed his decepticon symbols to face right side up instead of the usual upside down and kept the wings transformed that way because I don't know I actually prefer it, since I'm keeping this guy for myself I guess you could say the client is extremely happy with the result lol. thanks for the observations though I will definitely try them when I make Mp-11 in this style. :)

Thanks man, coming from you that means a lot, I have always loved your G1 seeker customs, I'm glad that while some will draw up simmilarities between my style and Frogdna's ( I am flattered by it) that it can still be considered it's own, since I am still trying to find my place and style here without stepping on any toes if you know what I mean LOL. I love that picture too, I have it as my screensaver! :)

It is a fact that the paint work and pic style resembles FrogDNAs work. Transforming it a bit differently doesn't just erase that fact. That's a very good thing though because FDNA is one of the best, and like I said, this look great.

Yes it resembles it, but looks completely different to me. Frog's has that flat sheen, while these has a subtle gloss to them which in my eyes makes them look different. The cell shading here also seems tighter and more evenly applied and the panel lining has a much deeper appearance. Both styles are awesome, but they do look different in my eyes.

    Again, amazing work.

I can tell this wasnt done by frog. This paintjob is even better than FR's G1 repaints, you really crushed the cockpit paint. Great job.

    thanks SON! :)
Thanks, I achieved the panel lining by hand , you just need a steady hand and lots of patience.
Ha ha, thanks man, like I mentioned before I am honored that you bring up FrogDna when comparing it to my work, I actually own a couple of his pieces, seaspray being one of them, really cool stuff, however it's the very fact that I have seen his work up close why I must agree with Zildjan below, Frog's style has a more flat and more mute application to the colors because I assume he seals them with a matte coating which causes the color to lose some of it's brightness and vibrance and the celshading less pronounced, I actually want my colors to come out stronger as well as the shading like in a cel shaded videogame so I sealed this one with future finish since it gives it a protective coat that does come out a bit more gloss like but does'nt interfere with the colors applied, thanks again for your kind words that means I'm on the right track with this style.
    Thanks!
Thanks you got a really good eye! :)
Wow, although I am not trying to best anyone, just trying out this really fun style, I am honored by your comment, the cockpit is one of my favorite aspects too! Thanks so much!

Resembles does not mean identical. I never claimed this paint job was a rip off of anyone's style either. It just resembles FDNA's style. AKA really good cartoon style.
