Agreed. MMC Kickback looks really good, better than FT Kickback. Bombshell is okay too, his feet are a bit weak and I'd prefer a grey chest on him. But Shrapnel doesn't look good to me. The insect legs have an even lazier design than FT Shrapnel and overall he just looks too lanky.

There are still no perfect MP Insecticons.

I actually like MMC's Bombshell the least. I like Shrapnel alot though. This is how I fold his legs away and he looks just fine in my opinion. IMG_20180319_164733.jpg IMG_20180319_164750.jpg IMG_20180319_164835.jpg

After reading some of the more negative reviews of this set, for a brief moment I regretted picking them up-but your photos reminded me why I bit on the EBAY sale, and why the enjoyment of toys is far more satisfying. Do not let yourself be guided by am emotionally charged post expressing multi-layered disappointment.

PRICE: FT Insecticons at retail will easily set you back $240 and if they are not reissued, people as asking double that. That is well beyond reasonable. and there's no way I would drop the kind of dough on 3 little bots that could get me 2 Dx9 Gabriels. This set gets all 3 characters at a fraction of the price- which leaves more money for more toys. These can be bought for $180- not too shabby.

SCULPT: FT is loaded with die cast and look very G1 inspired, which some collectors love, but the set is not without its problems. BC's set has really bloated, squat proportions- the reason I was willing to pay more for FT as I did not like the look of BC from the beginning. Yes the BC face sculpts are amazing but something about MMC's over all look draws me in. These bugs have some clever kibble clean up, and are a good balance of G1 and updated design.

QUALITY: Haven't seen any reports of these things breaking or crumbling- so no issues here. Now that I have them in hand I can say that they feel solid. The plastic panels are not thin (like on my ooooofficial TT Bumblebee) and the die cast provides some weight. IN hand they feel great. No complaints. The pins move easily and there's no "FT Clip of Doom" on Kickback! ;)

FINAL THOUGHTS: This really is a sleeper set that gets far too much unfair criticism. The chrome paint looks stunning. The slim designs give Bombshell, Kickback and Shrapnel new life. These incarnations of (what held by some) are great examples of sleek insectoid Deception assassins- is refreshing. Again I state- no complaints.

It doesn't take much imagination to envision Megatron employing these 3 creeps to dispatch with the Autobots greatest warrior. While Omega Supreme (Gabriel- :D ) knocks the elite seekers around like toys- the insecticon militia are attached to his heavily armored back- cutting through his superstructure to impregnate their target with some nasty EMP bombs. Pure joy!

I still love my BC Bug Corps. I went with that set because I wanted the clear amber chest parts instead of solid yellow. Even though MMC doesn't offer that as an option (bummer), their Insecticons are really nice! It's a very tempting set to get.

The way I see it, FT's set is worth maybe $50/each, so $150 for the set. BC's is worth maybe $40/each, so $120. Ymmv, but I see the MMC set as worth maybe $30/each, so I wouldn't pay much over $90 for the MMC set. I got the BC set on sale for $120, and they're my Insecticons until FT reissues their set (provided they fix the couple issues with it, which they certainly could after all this time). Since Insecticons were troop built in the cartoon, it's possible I'd snag a set of these MMC bugs if someone does a Black Friday firesale on them for under $100, but unfortunately that's below cost for most retailers, so it's unlikely. But they aren't necessary to purchase since there are alternatives, so it's all good.

I like your folding pattern it looks very clean- I'm also bumping this thread again because this set is highly underrated.

My Fanstoys Forager's wing broken (a replacement will be on its way soon), so I grabbed this set. The lack of heft kind of bothers me, and it would have been nice to have had the purple bits be painted, but overall it's not bad. I think I'll wind up selling my FT bugs in favor of this set. I like them, but they have always felt a little big to me.

FT is still still able to send out parts for Forager? I wasn't sure if they still had parts to send out since it is not currently in production.

I I actually did sell my fanstoys set once I got these guys. I like this set overall, and I think they pose nicely. My biggest complaint is that the purple on them is so dark. They almost look completely black unless the lighting is pretty bright.

This is a great shot. Do you mind me asking the set up? Is it off camera flash and a fast shutter speed to under expose the background? And is it black perspex / acrylic for the surface, that shows up the reflection?

I have a white backdrop which photographs well, albeit some shadows so may get a white / clear base also, but I haven't found a black backdrop and reflective surface combination yet.

I don't have any Insecticons. I wonder if I should spring for these. I know they were moved to the Reformatted line, but how well do they fit in with MP (as they were originally intended)?

I would probably give Shrapnel's bug legs a quickie with a black spray can.
