I've gotten Sphinx and Jaguar, and I love them. I'm about to buy Terraegis and Backdraft. I think I'm an OX fanboy at this point.

If these review well vs the Fans Toys and BadCube insecticons, and if they offer a set without chrome, I'm in. Would love to see the orange translucent chest pieces as an option too.

 

I'm interested in Insecticons that aren't Fans Toys or Badcube, too. I'll second the translucent orange. The chrome doesn't bother me. What does bother me are Kickback's all-black arms. Can't say I follow the design decision there; both the G1 toy and the cartoon had purple forearms and hands. Hopefully it's just an early test shot and that'll be changed before release.

While we're at it, though, what's all that orange/yellow junk on Shrapnel's back?

 

Hopefully more paint apps throughput, cause both ft and bc have nice ones throughout figures. I don't like kickback at all, but the other two look interesting.

 

@mikeszekely Yeah, really, the botmode designs look pretty good, just make them G1 accurate colorations all around, please. I can live with chrome if really necessary (but hopefully not, that stuff either flakes or fades or tarnishes) if everything else is done right.

Possible, but I'd say doubtful. The set was originally priced at $185 (actually, I still have them on pre-order after all this time, haha), which would make them basically deluxe-priced each. MMC's said that they don't really like to make figures smaller than that because of the joints involved, but that was a few years ago, so things might have changed.

That and deluxe-sized figures seem roughly right to me for the Insecticons.

Nevertheless, it is interesting to me that these have crossed over from Ocular Max to Reformatted, and I'm curious about that decision. Though, I'm more curious to see if OX and Reformatted will ever both do a version of the same character: someone like Springer would be a great candidate, if for no other reason than that it'd be funny to see another goddamn Springer.

 

That... is... interesting. I may have legends sized, MP sized and now deluxe sized insecticons.

 

MMC's Shrapnel looks really good in this comparison.

 

I waited to long to grab the Fans Toys versions, so I'm interested in these for sure. My MP Decepticon shelf is looking a little empty.

 

They look pretty good, but the feet on Shrapnel and Bombshell appear to be complete afterthoughts, just boat paddles attached to the bottom of a lower-leg rectangle by a skinny peg/ball joint with a visible gap between. It's like they started at the top of the bot, and by the time they got to the bottom they said, "Oh s#$%, we need feet. Just stick something on there." It's incredibly lazy not to cover the ankle on the sides and one of my biggest 3P pet-peeves. No TF ever had feet like this.

 

Good on them for finally getting these out of the door, but I find Kickback's arm/hands to be kind of small compared to his body.

 

Some bots just prefer low-tops instead of boots, I guess.
