Just got my set today too from Planet Steel Express, it shipped on the 4th. Very nice upgrade, now I don't need to get TR Overlord!

After having the upgrade kit a little more than a week I mostly like it. But one thing I don't like is that they made the white chest pieces glossy. They should have been flat white to match his arms.

Taking the silk route, maybe? It can take two whole weeks for a package to arrive from hong kong or shanghai to singapore.

I couldn't be bothered with this guy until I saw the upgrade kit...then Instabuy. So many kudos to them for pre-planning this option, so nice.

Love this upgrade kit. Put the front of the G1 face on the regular head since I like the longer antennas.

Same here, the longer antennas really sell the overall head sculpt. Regardless of what other figures come out over the years this is always going to be one I consider at or near the top of the list. A lot of love went into this one to get it damn near perfect. I watched the prototype pictures from the beginning just salivating for this one to come out and it still blew away all expectations. That metallic blue is majestic on this figure. I still cannot believe how intelligently they salvaged a base mode without compromising on the figure at all.

Carnifex is one of my favorite figures and the add-on set makes him even moreso. But let's be honest, that base mode is just a bunch of robot & alt mode parts laying on the ground. It's only slightly less random than throwing the pieces up in the air and letting them fall where they may and then declaring that the base mode. Hehe. Again, I love this figure. I've transformed him more in the past few months than any other figure I own. And that's saying a lot.

I think we agree on this one. When you look at the G1 toy block mess (still nice figure I would like to have) and compare it to this you clearly see why they pushed that out of sight and out of mind when they designed it to give it the heroic proportions and flexibility. But to still be able to have a planned base at all when you get all of the other things right is pretty impressive. Most of these bases are flipping around and repurposing crap. The base still looks good for a mode that is not that important and satisfies all of the crowd asking for it and then you get everything else the way it was intended.

Has anyone gotten a set with "Mega" and "Giga" assembled correctly? Mine are like Soundwave2's photo and Paik's review. If you look at the box pictures (aside from the rendered pics) and the instructions you'll see that the backpacks and chestplates are 180 from each other compared to the figures sent out. So, the back pack emblems are upside down from what they should be when transformed in engine mode and the chest plats are upside down in human mode if the backpacks are position correctly.

Or maybe I missed something and there's a way to turn the chest/backpack independently of each other? I have tried, but am afraid I'd break them as they seem to be dependent on each other.

Yeah, they rotate, but do they do so independently of each other?

Checkout Paik's video at 12:30. You twist the backpack and the chestplate twists as well. Even the instructions show you twisting both at the same time and says "Rotate backpack which is linked to chest piece".

Compare Soundwave2's picture to this, which I've seen from a few sites selling the set.

For the life of me, I can't get one side to rotate without the other and am afraid of breaking them.
