Those both look pretty stellar to me...

 

Oh a direct comparison to carn just isn't fair at aaaaallll. That said my gosh does the Blackshadow version look sooooo nice. Wonderful torso sculpt, fantastic shoulders, the all black legs help it naturally look more solid down there. Just a way way better use of the mold. I dunno what the heck happened with the Overlord version but it definitely could benefit intensely from some PE style upgrades.

Heck if Shadow could get some bigger better wings he'd be amazing.

 

I'd actually be more inclined to get Black Shadow if he wasn't ALSO Jet+Tank=Robot; it just screams Overlord-lite to me. Plus, I've already got Hexatron(CloneDroid), Black Shadow's simplicity would stand out too much on a Phase Sixer display.

So waiting & hoping for 3P/MMC it is then.

That question was already asked in the Calidus thread, with the answer essentially being "not allowed to comment/no information".

 

With the popularity of Carnifex and Kultur, it is natural for them to do Black Shadow and Deathsaurus, but the question is when and how.

 

I think Hasbro's Overlord looks more like the character did in the cartoon. I think it looks nice, but I like the aesthetics of Carnifex more, looking more like he does in the IDW comics. But Last Stand of the Wreckers really got me into the character.

 

The key is not to get carried away like they did with the later Japanese G1 lines, where the micromasters became the entire point. Victory wasn't so bad this way, still had a decent roster of characters, but man, Transformers Zone was kind of desolate that way. Just three autobots, all of them giants, and then a truckload of micromasters with forgettable designs and names, and no bad guys... except repaints.

 

I made an entire thread about the need for a 3rd party Black Shadow on par with Carnifex and Hexatron, lol.

 

Ah, but I like the idea of having a Black Shadow I can distress & have the DJD kill.

 

Mine arrived today. I'm legit blown away. Such a magnificently malevolent presence.

Got this guy awhile ago. Once you know the trick to getting the shoulder stuff to collapse for jet mode, he's lovely.

Currently using the intact eye piece within the insane grin head, and while it doesn't close perfectly, it does work. I do wish he had somewhere to store his gun in robot mode so he could wield both swords without having to set the gun aside.
