This is not good news....Yeah FROGDNA....Hope all is well......
Glad to hear you're ok man.
I hope FrogDNA is doing alright.
By the way, do any of you happen to know where he lives, specifically? Because that greatly affects how he may be affected, since as you know our country is pretty long and thin, so certain areas weren't affected at all.
frog lives in Las Condes, Santiago. A good distance from the center of the quake, but news is reporting that electricity is out/hampered all the way to Santiago as well.
hope all is well, my prayers have been out all morning.
Not sure. All it says next to his name is Chile.
edit: Nevermind. F_R answered.
I live in Las Condes too, there's a good chance that he is alright, but a bit shaky like me. May be busy doing some cleanup and damage assessment like I was, too, but the construction here is pretty good (the quake was stronger than the one in Haiti, yet the terrain and building quality made it look weaker than it really was)
was hearing that also on the news. Seems you guys (compared to a lot of other places) are lot more "prepared" for earthquakes given Chile's history. A lot of your structures have very high safety/earthquake preventative measures, yet still some of the destruction I am seeing on the news is unreal.
I hope he's okay, I use to buy transformers from him... I'm from Chile too, but from the north part, the earthquake was from the south part of Chile, and I read somewhere that it even was sensed in Sao Paulo :s
I saw this on Yahoo! and whoa, it just got me out guard. Hopefully everyone is okay there including frogDNA. Prayers go to the families there in Chile.
Hopefully he's ok, there were relatively few casualties given the magnitude of the quake. Power/communications are likely to be disrupted though, so it might be a few days before he's back.
Hope everyone's alright. I'm saddened by all the recent deaths, no matter what the cause is, it's still sad.
I haven't seen anything just yet on the news, but Chile has a long history of tectonic activity. I'm sure they are pretty well prepared. Though an 8.8 is a ridiculously strong quake. Being a West Coast guy myself, I've slept through 5's and brushed off a 6.1 (though it took out a good number of toys off my display at the time). Couldn't imagine an 8+.
I do hope FrogDNA is okay, as well, and he can get things cleaned up soon. Also, that he avoids the panic and whatnot going on.
My best to everyone in chile, hawaii. Australia nd any other countries affected in some way
I just got an email from him, he and is family are ok!
Thats awesome. Thanks for the update Mike
Hurray!! He's become one of my favorite artists here. I'm glad to hear that he is safe!
YAHOOO! hes ok thats fantastic i hope the best for him
Glad to hear you guys are all ok, and yes Chile has a big advantage over the haiti quake, 1. real government structure and 2. building codes almost equal to California due to their quake history. All my prayers go out to your families and specially those families that lost loved ones to this.
Now I'm going to get my uncle on the phone and make sure his lazy ass is awake b/c he lives on the southern coast of big island and tsunami warnings are out, but he tends to sleep through them
