If you've seen the episode "Nemesis Prime" or at least began putting the clues together when the episode's preview was originally shown, you've realized that Nemesis Prime is the current status of MECH's Project Chimera. While not completely identical in outward appearance or even voice, Nemesis can pass off as Optimus kind of convincingly.

Given that the remote-controlled bot matches Optimus Prime in size for both vehicle and robot modes, I gotta wonder: Do T-cogs (in this continuity at least) direct mass-shifting between the different modes as well? Every Transformer in the show - or at least every automotive one - is larger in robot than vehicle mode, after all, and that includes Nemesis Prime.

(And yeah, the production reason was probably not wanting to always have Nemesis be at least a head shorter than Optimus, which could've thrown off the deception a bit more anyway.)

*If any of the above should be covered up for spoiler reasons as well, feel free to say so.

Surely they do. If not, then I want to see their Arcee clone.

"Sir, it's barely twice our height."
    "I can see that."

The 'Bee did give their prototype some pretty rough lovin' in the
third act of Op: Bumblebee pt2.

They probably had to pretty much start over.

Mass shifting does not exist in fiction. It is only an artistic cheat. Arcee would have no idea what you are talking about if you asked her how she mass shifts.

Honestly, it just sounds like a hand wave or a screw up by the art or design team. I don't think they ever actually mass shift in-universe. This isn't G1 where that kind of thing where the mass shift has a huge effect on the story (looking at you, Astrotrain).

    HAHAHA!

Sorry, but you can't watch G1 and tell me that mass shifting doesn't exist with a straight face.

    I smell a meme.

    Think about it. Flame war.

I said IN FICTION. And we are talking about Prime. Mass shifting as an ability does not exist in the universe. We see them mass shift because the artists cheat. But Arcee has no concept of this.

It is pretty obvious Mass Shifting DOES exist in this series. Anyone who claims otherwise is blind, doesn't pay attention, or is in denial.

Arcee is obvious, Bulkheads tires is another obvious one. There is a bunch...

How do you know? How do you know they are not aware of Mass Shifting? Surely she is aware she isn't a 7 foot robot. How else would she explain why she is able to Transform that way? Just because? Oh. I forgot. You know Arcee has no concept of this because you have talked to her right? You can speak for the directors and creators as if fact right?

Wow, when will people realise that mass shifting does NOT exsist in fiction at all, it's just the animators cheating, yes the become smaller but only so the character can "drive" them.

It actually does exist in some continuities, G1 being the most obvious of them all.

However unless it's directly referenced I think it's safe to assume that the characters don't mass shift from their perspective.

It was directly referenced in some G1 stuff and the movies, that much I know for certain. However I don't think any other continuities make mention of it.

Where can I purchase your brand of maturity?

Seriously, it's just an artistic cheat. Making something out of it is like swearing that all of the ponies in MLP are lesbians.

xD May I sig that second line? xD

But yesh, this is true. We see mass shifting, but in their world, until it's mentioned and attention is drawnt o it, it's simply done for the convenience of the artists, nothing more.
