I'm off to buy some soon so let's here what you have to say about this not so popular topic...
I realize some things work better for others so let's hear what you use/prefer.
    Thanks !

I use regular shitty stuff from Home Depot for the bulk, but I swear by Tamiya masking tape for any area that needs a clean edge. it's very high tack and because it sits in a casing, it will never get gunk along the outsides/sides of the roll, which create problems later on.

Tamiya comes in several widths, I usually got the ΒΌ" and 1" sizes. It's expensive, but needed.

    I use 3M 1 inch (blue) & 1/4 inch (green) painters tape.
    Never given me any problems.

3m's blue is lower tack than regular, and green is highest tack, correct?

Both are Medium Adhesion. I'm not sure why they are different colors.

I use the 3m tape, the low to medium ahesion, but for those special projects, Tamiya is the way to go. It does cost and arms and a leg, but the stuff holds on like Micheal Jackson to 5 year old. It's good stuff.

I've honestly only used the cheap stuff, and never had any problems when I take the time to ensure the edges are firmly pressed in place. the one time I had bleed I did not do that, plus I painted too heavy.

Unless its a huge area to be masked off, I use Silly Putty to mask. It sounds weird but you won't believe how well it works, it adheres to every little crevice so there is never any over-spray. Especially when you have to mask off something very small(like eyes) it works like a charm. I swear by it.
