I don’t know what I’m less happy about, the delay or the checklist getting longer.

Crap, I just realized that CW#4 comes out in September, and CW#5 comes out in November. #6 and #7 are back to the monthly schedule after that, but still...Civil War has been my most anticipated title for the past 3 months.

It's Marvel. Did anyone seriously expect this to run on time?

On the one hand I'm kind of glad as it means I wont be taking as big of a hit as I did when #3 came out. On the other I'm rather enjoying the story and wont see its conclusion till 07 it seems. I'm not surprised by the delay but I'd of thought that since every book pretty much hinges on one book till this is over I'd of thought they'd be about 75% done or some where around there. Can't wait to see the fallout from this myself

Yeah nothing like Walking Dead, Transformers, Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis, Teen Titans, Green Lantern and Supergirl. *cough*

Anyway, I'm was annoyed by the extra tie-ins at first, but if they're anywhere near as good as the ones so far, I'm all for it.

Well, I guess I don't have to pick up any Marvel books this month, CW and Amazing are the only ones that I read.

Huh. I don't know how to feel. On one hand, I'm disappointed because I really like Civil War and was looking forward to this month's story (especially CW #4). But on the other hand, I'm relieved that FOUR comics I would be buying this month are coming out a month later, and 13 more are being delayed.

This way, I won't be spending money while I'm trying to make some money by selling textbooks I don't need anymore.

I've always wondered if writers and artists get fined for not being on time. Bryan Hitch for example, I love his artwork, but the man couldn't put a book out on time if he tried. If you see his artwork you know why it can't be on time, he draws every goddam brick on a building.

If there isn't a penalty, what is the incentive to get it in on time... other than not listening to fanboys bitch at conventions.

The general penalty is that the editors aren't really willing to work with the late artist or writer, or they don't get high-profile assignments. Oscar Jimenez is one example. Dan Slott (whom Tom Brevoort commented on recently) is another. It also depends on if the writer or artist is a selling point, like Kevin Smith or Joss Whedon or John Cassaday or Bryan Hitch. Orders still stay pretty consistant on ULTIMATES 2, for example.

And Hitch DID work on a book that stayed out on schedule--THE AUTHORITY, six years ago (there was only one issue that was a month late, but they made up for it by releasing two issues during the next month, putting it back on track).

So was I. Its probably one of the most anticipated books right now, and they delay it a month. Nice going Marvel! :thumb
