I have a copy of of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the PS2. I was thinking of trading it in along with a few other games I don't really play too often. Then I see that Gamestop was offering $32 for a trade-in for it. That seemed a bit high, then I see they are sellign it for $69.99. I check Ebay and I see open copies going for near $100, in a few cases for even more. Is this game really that hard to come by?

I've had the game since the day it came out. I've played it to death. I'm fully aware of the games enjoyability, but I doubt I'll touch it again. I've played it only once in the last year or so.

But if the game is as rare or "valuable" as it appears to be, I'll just throw it up on ebay or put it in the Junkion and take the best offer.

It is rare, not super rare but it was released at the end of Capcom having the Marvel license (why there was no reprint like RE2/3 for Gamecube), was at a time when Capcom was underproducing quantities, and its highly sought after. I personally never found it in stores even though I searched for the xbox version release week.

You can certainly get a good amount for it, and please don't sell to Gamestop. I'd say throw it up on ebay (or the Junkion) if you really don't want it anymore.

If you are into obscure games like me, stuff like this happens constantly. Most of the games I buy end up either breaking even or making a small profit on eBay.

I bought the game on its release date and was surprised at how cheap it was. Imagine my surprise a few years later when I saw it on Ebay. If you honestly will never play it again, don't trade it in at Gamestop. Ebay is your best bet.

I used to own a copy of Disgaea, and I sold it on Ebay before Atlus decided to re-release it. It was quite rare and I got a nice amount for it. I don't think I'd ever part with my Marvel vs Capcom 2 though.

the reason it was underproduced wasnt Capcom's fault. 2D games released on the PS2 have to be limited releases unless it's some kind of compilation. Sony just doesnt like sprites.

I bought my PS2 back in 2004 and the first game I wanted for it was MvC2. Even then used copies were going for around $40-70. I ended up buying a new, unopened copy for $100. As others have said it's not uber rare, but rare enough. If you are intent on selling your copy I wouldn't sell it to a Gamestop or EB. You'll do much better selling it on ebay.

heh, you could probably buy a dreamcast, a joystick controller, and the game for a hundred bucks.

oh, I don't know, I was just saying...but I think the one I use is the one you mention for the ps2, hooked up to my dreamcast using an adapter.

Why would you want to sell it anyways? That game is great!

i have the game for ps2, i still play it from time to time, but the ps2 version isn't as rare as the gamecube version though. i say hold on to your copy unless you have to sell it as a last resort.

I remember looking for that game about a year ago and the prices were crazy. I'd love to get a copy of this, but I can't justify paying 100.00 for it.

However, if we can work out a deal:wink:

Ebay is the route to go, especially if you want as much as you can get for the game.
