Last year, Marvel Studios announced that they had acquired back the rights to the Punisher. This year, they've gotten another. And that character is...

    BLADE!

Of course, this means that Blade is now apart of the same cinematic universe as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, etc.

Epic awesomeness. I can't wait to see what they do with the character. If only they could get Daredevil and the FF back now. :(

I wouldn't mind seeing a Blade reboot at all. I guess one is in the works, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to all of the expense of getting the rights back.

The Blade anime has been okay so far. I was wondering why they choose Blade as one of the properties to get the anime treatment when the deal was announced. I guess they wanted to get something with the Blade name on it out there as fast as possible once they got the license back.

Anyone left for them to get back? The Fantastic Four to mind quickly, and Daredevil was mentioned by another posted.

I quite liked the first two Blade movies. But I look forward to seeing what they do with him.

I don't think it cost them anything. Whoever held the rights didn't do anything with it for a certain amount of time. After that point, the rights went back to Marvel.

I figured it was because while superhero animes are relatively scarce, vampire hunter ones are commonplace and so they could do a better job of it and have it be popular. And to be honest I think doing Blade has paid off, because IMO its by far and large the best Marvel anime of the 4 already.

Back to the topic at hand, this is good news. I'd quite like to see a new Blade film.
