I've noticed recently two new titles. Spiderman Noir and Xmen Noir. Given I'm a fan of the art style I decided to check them out. Xmen Noir I found confusing. The writing makes assumptions that you know what's going on, and I do not at all.

Spiderman Noir conversely I love. It's set in the great depression giving a different angle on every character. It takes time to set them up as new individuals without ties to the established marvel universe, and builds a the kind of "No one is right, and the world is screwed up." feel that a Noir setting needs. I'll keep reading this one.

I think Marvel needs to stop with these stunts and actually put effort into their own continuties.

I couldn't get into the Xmen book, didn't bother with the second issue. I liked the Spiderman book, haven't gotten a chance to read number 2 yet.

    What do I think?
I think that if Marvel want "new individuals without ties to the established marvel universe" (especially X-Men & Spidey) why are they fucking up those very characters in the Ultimates Universe (which was supposed to be exactly that)?

Enjoy the line very much, Spider-Man Noir is really well done...and X Men Noir, while entertaining, features too much of the Angel character instead of the actual X Men

X-men noir I may just pick up in trade form. I'm too busy keeping up with Deadpool and Fantastic 4 to shell 4 bucks on a book I'm not sure of yet.
The variant covers are gorgeous though.
