This has probably been posted or has a thread more corresponding than the one I'm making, but I found this...:

This is just me talking at space, but...

It'd be so awesome if, by making their own studio, Marvel is also getting people involved in their films -aware immediately- of the crossover-y nature of comicbooks and how that could be translated to film.

I dunno, in terms of Hollywood the Avengers lead-up strikes me as ludicrous, but it's fun to think of it turning out really well. :D

After Iron Man, I have very little doubt they can pull it off. What sucks is the waiting. 2011?!

It'll be worth it though. Even if the story sucks, the special effects will be amazing.

I foresee movie star egos and salaries becoming a huge factor/hurdle in the development of The Avengers movie. I hope the Cap movie is set entirely in the 1940s ending with him frozen in ice setting up the Avengers movie.

...hope they don't keep this title though.

What I'm most curious about is Thor. I mean, I enjoy him only as part of Avengers as the powerhouse, but I wonder how he's going to show up on-screen.

Pitt a favorite for Thor...just a rumor so don't freak out!

    http://www.moviehole.net/news/20080513_thor_your_eyes_only.html

Any opinons on Cap? Personally, I think Leo would do a good job with Norton and Downey. I like Leo for 2 reasons, 1) He has the acting chops to do it. 2) Leo's young features. If we get the WWII flashbacks, then his youthfulness fits in with that era plus we would see a younger looking, reluctant Cap in the present day trying to lead a team of older, seasoned looking Avengers. I know in the Cap origin story, Rogers goes from boy to man in appearance after taking the super solider serum, but that would look really dumb on the big screen.

Some people want a ton of muscle (Cena from WWE) but if Cap is more of a Olympic Athlete/Gymnast, Leo can pull it off. If they can hook him up with trainer that helped Will Smith for Ali, Leo could do it.

He's an awewsome actor, but Thor should be BIG. Pitt just doesn't have the stature or breadth.

DiCaprio?! DearlordpleaseNO. Can't stand him -- almost as smarmy as Jude Law.

I can't see Leo as Rogers. I just can't picture it.

I have a weird image in my head of Bruce Willis maybe. Although he would probably work better as Earth X Cap.

Willis probably could've done it 20 years ago

it's really gotta be someone of Dolph Lundgren (circa 80s) build.... but obviously American. i can't think of anyone like that because most actors these days arne't really that burly

I think Pitt would be better as Cap then Thor.

My pick for Cap would be Eric Johnson, the guy who plays the title character in the new "Flash Gordon" series. I mean, Flash essentially is Cap in the new version (never seen the old). He'd just need to bulk up.

And I'd normally agree that Brad Pitt is too small for Thor, he really looks the part in that pic. Maybe.

I have that on DVD. Epic win. I'd love for him and the guy who played Blake to get a cameo at least.

I was reading the Iron Man article in this week's Entertainment Weekly and they confirmed Downey Jr is only signed to one more film with Marvel which will obviously be IM2. So at this point there is nothing guarenteeing he'll appear in the Avengers movie. I would wager Norton probably has a similar contract for Incredible Hulk.

Maxim magazine also tossed Matthew McConaughey's name into the pool of potential Thor actors. Personally I don't see him being any better than Pitt though.
