I have been waiting for a couple months in both excitement and hesitation for the new Marvel Apes series. Now I understand with the popularity of the Marvel Zombies series that something new would happen (I love anything zombie and MZ is no exception, I'm a big fan) but I have to say I actually kinda like this new Apes story. Spoliers: The story revolves around Marty Blank AKA The Gibbon and of course traveling to another dimension inhabited with smart Apes (ala Planet of the Apes) I think everyone should give it a chance and at least read it once because I found it to be pretty entertaining. I hope to have some more discussion about this 4 part series with you guys.
I always thought it was a fun concept, if a bit silly, but I dont mind a bit of silliness what with the DRAMA flag that's been comics lately. Most of the initial complaining about it was 'OMG! COMICZ ARE SERIOUS BIZNESS' type bitching. If you DONT love that Monkey Punisher cover with 5 guns blazing, you dont have a soul. You probably hate Squirrel Girl too, which makes you a Commie.
^I think that's the idea. Because they aren't human they let their animal side be unleashed so what's normal to them is considered evil to normal humans. Should be interesting where this goes
Again, it was a stupid idea when DC did it in the mid-90s with JLApe, and it's still a stupid idea now.
Who else is reminded of the JLU ep where Gorilla Grodd turns everyone into monkeys and Luthor takes him out, more or less saying, "That's the best you could come up with?!!!"
Yeah, I wasn't really looking forward to it, but I gave it a shot and actually liked it. I'm a little curious who Ape X is.
I was intrigued when I saw the Speedball ape...but I already am buying so many comics thanks in part to Secret Invasion...so I'll pass on these.
I like this so far. The way they deal with the villains is very interesting, if not somwhat beastial.
