While the majority of us already knew that M. Night Shyamalan's 2008 eco-terror flick THE HAPPENING was a truly retarded piece of filmmaking, it's heartening to hear that movie's principal star Mark Wahlberg being so candid in his admission of that fact. That's not something we see everyday (and especially not so relatively soon after a film's release).

During a press conference this past weekend for David O. Russell's upcoming THE FIGHTER, Wahlberg was asked to talk about his co-star Amy Adams when the actor wound up revealing just a wee bit more...

"I was such a huge fan of [Amy Adams]. We'd actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie, and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. I don’t want to tell you what movie… alright, THE HAPPENING with M. Night Shyamalan. It is was it is. F*cking trees, man, the plants. F*ck it. You can’t blame me for wanting to try to play a science teacher, you know? I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook."

I really applaud Wahlberg's 'f*ck it' attitude because it's just SO refreshing to see. Not surprisingly, the audience during the press conference erupted in laughter after the actor's comments. Shyamalan must be spinning in his grave!

You need to be dead first before you can spin in your grave.

Where is that clapping gif? Wahlberg deserves a standing ovation for telling Shamalamadingdong the way he sees it about another one of his fucking horrible movies.

My god, I can't believe I sat through half of his movies. He gets all this praise thanks to the Sixth Sense, but people don't understand the rest of his horrible movies!

Actors need to quit making excuses, apologizing and justifying being in bad movies. Nobody cares. Whalberg needs to get over himself, this isn't the first bad movie he's been in, or even his worst movie. It certainly won't be his last bad movie.

Every actor makes multiple bad movies. EVERY ACTOR. Making excuses after the fact doesn't change that. It's not like he's Laurence Olivier. He's a mediocre actor named Mark freakin' Whalberg.

I don't think his work blows at all. He became somewhat fixated with the 'twist' ending, but other than that everything up until 'The Lady In The Water' was extremely well directed, atmospheric and quite different to the usual rubbish rammed down our collective throats.

It's a shame then that since 'Lady' he seems to have taken something of a downward spiral.

'The happening' is a great idea for a 1950's style sci-fi short story, but makes absolutely no sense as he filmed it - people running away from wind.

It does however contain a few painfully brief snippets of his old glamour - the mass suicides at the beginning and the 'fruit garden' of hanging people in the upper class neighbourhood are vintage Shyamalan.

    Mark Wahlberg admits it.

    Too bad Shaymalan can't.

Hell, according to him anyone who thinks his movies are shit are just severly depressed and should kill themselves.

I felt that way after watching Signs and The Village. I saw the warnings of The Happening, and said no, looks like I was right!

I'd rather watch them make fun of him in Scary Movie 3. "If I hadn't left at that exact moment, and drank that exact bottle of Tequila..."

I always like it when actors admit they've acted in bad movies, it gives me some slight hope that there's at least one small bit of credibility left in Hollywood.

Don't get why this is something to be mad about.
