Two colleagues of mine once made whoopie in a terminal ward that housed a few coma patients. Wait till I tell them this story.

Wait, fully conscious but trapped in a body that won't allow him to scream? Dude's gonna get sued by Harlan Ellison.

I've often wondered about this. I'm glad there's the technology to know the difference now!

I think just the boredom alone would've made me nuts. Presumably his eyes were closed the whole time too, either that or he was stuck staring at just the ceiling. I'd be hankering after every tiny sound just to keep me sane; the buzz of a fly, distant footsteps, any machines around me.

Nice his condition has finally been discovered and he can now read the Harry Potter books or watch BayFormers or something.

Wouldn't coming out of something like that, after 23 years, make you clinically insane??

    Science is wrong? Nah....

Stories like this should be a wake up call to people who believe that our methods to a conclusion isn't always correct.

I'm amazed he kept it together at all. I doubt many people could have. It says a hell of a lot about him as a person that he did.

This guy probably has a Xanax vending machine in his bedroom.

I hope he writes about it. Doubt one book would cover it all.
No movie could ever fully explain it for him but it would be nice to see a great 2 hour 'in a nutshell' film about it, and shoot it like Eraserhead/Agent Orange

Using this method in this case, was wrong.

    According to Wiki
The motor test can have some forms of issue. If a person is sort of in a paralysis state, how can he/she react to stimuli?

Imagine those people who've had their feeding tube removed, thinking the person will die a peaceful death. Instead, the are knowing dying of starvation
