oh god, let the panic begin.

now we'll have to get permits/background checks to buy a 3D printer.

the future's so bright, i gotta have a flashlight.

    Printers can kill!

No need to print a gun. Just throw a printer at someone's head.

Let's just hope in answer to this news that somewhere someone is printing out some bulletproof vests.

I'd feel a lot better about this if it wasn't for the knee-jerk "we must arm ourselves in case the gov't attacks!" pro-2nd-Amendment reactions.

I'll admit that him even successfully doing that is pretty neat.
At the same time, it's kinda scary...

    This.

Really though, I'd think 3D prints were too weak/flimsy for this sort of thing.

Half of me doesn't believe this at all. There is a lot of crap that goes into the trigger mechanism of a rifle that isn't easily toyed with. He's obviously knowledgeable about weapons if he can assemble it all without an issue. I would think he simply created the "body" of the fire arm, and then used existing parts. Saying that he made this from scratch? Highly unlikely.

    Consider me skeptical.

He made the lower receiver part of the gun from plastic. Which others have done.
