It seems that farming is the root of the problem. If the "people" in this simulation didn't take up agriculture the problems could not reach a level of globel distruction. War seems a part of human nature, it keep us healthy as a species in the past. I mean tribes were always at low level warfare with one another, it promoted make up breeding between tribes, because only breeding within closely related people leads to many health problems.

Maybe Civilization does not work so well for humans, It seems to go against our nature. I mean most people I know religions that have only been created in our civilized world tell them that this system/"world" we have created, and continue is only a test, and there is a better place, or they can enlighten theit way above it.

I've never played this game. Is it possable to stop them from farming? I don't think you would be able to stop them from fighting if the game is anything like the real world.

Maybe the games just a really good simulation of civilization, or maybe I'm thinking into it too much, anyway back to the toy forums.

My copy of Civilization I glitched. The result being that I could still play my saved game, even after I was able to start a colony on Alpha Centauri (a game-winning scenario). The only rival civilization left occupied just one city. Which I fleeced for tribute every few years.

I know I still have that saved game somewhere. Maybe on a CD...

He's not been playing it CONSTANTLY, he's played it in 'fits and spurts' and just happened to decide to keep playing the same saved game to see what would happen. Doesn't mean he doesn't otherwise have a life.

Well he should do an all out nuke war. He is afraid of destroying what he made for 10 years. Without complete annihilation, nothing will change.

Then the 3 people who survive can rebuild everything while fighting Zombies!

The one lesson we can take from this simulation:

DO NOT GIVE VIKINGS NUCLEAR BOMBS.

I could definitely see something like this as being a possible future for human civilization.

This is why Civilization is awesome. :thumbs2:

I wouldn't play one game for 10 years but I've been buying/playing Civ games for over 20 years. :D

This makes me want to grab my CIV 2 Gold disc and start a game. Had a lot of fun playing this in the past and a lot of awesome memories playing hot seat with my friends.

Yeah, I've thought about, and talked to many people about this subject a lot over the years, and answers like that are very common. Far more common than seeing a positive future for the civilized world.

So, if the way we live is so bad, and destuctive, why continue a system of living that we have so little faith in? Can anyone imagine a way to live that is better than civilization, and works for humans?

I'm not trying to be a wise ass, this is something I truly wonder about.

Well, if OUR civilization has problems, that doesn't mean ALL civilization is inherently flawed in concept.

It could mean that how civilizations in the civ game series also interact with eachother in a pessimistic system by nature of the game.
