Ok, yeah, but the way this story is titled, it's very misleading. Yeah, the dude should have probably been more careful, but he was a victim of an online relationship fraud, despite his tomfoolery on the virtual sack and being a douche with his wife. The title makes is seem like the guy left his wife for an anime chick from a video game or something.

The story really needed Chris Hansen to step out at the airport with his camera crew following behind to really give it that dramatic ending.

If it's something that is strictly online then yeah it's not really something one should put a lot of emotional investment into.

But me and my gf met online (admittedly through a site that pairs you with people more locally) and we've been dating for over a year now, actually going to be moving in together soon.

My dad met his wife online, and she live half a world away, they've been married for years.

In this day a lot of relationships can and do start online.

Hell look at Dirge and Deceptikitty.

well, my wife and I met online via myspace. Granted, we lived in the same city.

This story actually has me kinda feeling for the guy in a way. It was pretty childish of him to DDoS sites and lame of him to leave his wife, but the Founder of Perverted Justice should be a little accountable too.
Mad because one of your workers left after an argument and decide to troll him, play a hand in ending his marriage and humiliate him? That's pretty low.
Makes me wonder what they fought about, given how bad the founder wanted to get back at this guy.

Gah I have a few friends who have made relationships online. I just cannot convince myself to pursue a female through a computer.

    Net nerds are funny.

Guy planned to leave his wife for someone whom he had not spoken to on the phone nor met in person.

Man, if you're gonna bolt, at least seal the deal first. Pathetic moron.

The guy took the bait. If he hadn't, it wouldn't have mattered who offered it, none of this would have happened. Except his wife probably would have had other grounds for divorce eventually because he's kind of an ass.
