All joking aside, this event is shrouded in mystery. I suspect the police are investigating not only for a suicide, but possibly a murder…

Apparently it's only happened around 30 times.

It's not exactly easy to jump from a high building. Unless you work there, it can be difficult to get into the upper levels unless it's an observation deck, and those aren't easy to jump from either.

That's why people go for bridges. I think they stopped counting how many people dived off the Golden Gate Bridge once the number got close to 1,000.

Seems like the Golden Gate Bridge jumpers barely make the news here. I would have figured it's the same for the Empire State Building. Guess it's more infrequent there huh?

    *edit* jinx?

Some guy made a move about that. They would find these people who were about to jump and video them.

They would always phone 911 and if possible try and save them, but some people are too quick.

I clicked that actually expecting to see some of the video. Looking back, I can see where that was a silly thing to expect.

Also when it got around 950 or so it was getting so much media attention they where afraid all there where doing was promoting using the bridge for suicide. But I think it's still the #1 pick for jumpers.

The U.S. has laws against it as well, a lot of time people end up with counseling though...
