Local News | Speeding driver tells State Patrol he was rushing to bid on eBay | Seattle Times Newspaper
<--- this is the corrected link.

Really? You're P.O.ed about the 40YOV comments? Why? It's true! This case (aside from a few differences) is pretty much living the movie.

With all of that aside, he shouldn't have been speeding, and he definitely shouldn't have admitted that eBay was his reasoning for breaking the law. They might've thrown him in jail for his sheer stupidity.

I'm just surprised there were no comments made about his Star Wars collection, in the article. (The user comments were pretty funny though. "Clearly, the Force was not with him.")

It sucks he got busted and missed out on a coveted item, I know what it's like to lose on eBay, big time, but he was speeding, and his excuse isn't even remotely reasonable.

Sorry, I have to side with the cops on this one.

Dang, I'm not sure which to say here... "It's true, life imitates art" or "You just can't write this shit. Oh wait, they made a movie out of it." Nah, I'll leave that to the capable folks of this fine board. Someone will come up with a nice end note. Or something sigworthy.

...can't you bid on stuff using a cellphone?

If he was really so interested in making sure he won that auction, he should have had a way to do it away from home like any half-way decent cellphone or a wireless laptop.

What gets me is, this entire article is a waste of time and only made it into the news because he had toys in his car. People drive like that on a daily basis, and every single one of them has a retarded and ridiculous excuse ready for the cops. This was a waste of a story and not even worth the read.

This man needs an iPhone or Blackberry, or other Smart Phone of some sort.

He's an idiot for speeding, but it sucks he missed out on his auction..

I have to side with the cops on this one. What kind of an excuse is "Sorry, officer... I was rushing home so I can make sure to win that auction on eBay" anyways?

Yeah... obviously the Force was not with this idiot.

Dumbass thought he was in a pod race. Now he'll pay more in fines than a smart phone would cost.

A 110 MPH over a bridge is insane. Good Police work there (see ProwlDelta people CAN acknowledge good cops and such) that guy deserved to be arrested.

what a moron. Glad the cops got him, I hate reckless driving. Though like what was said, this only made the news because he had a car full of SW stuff.

Pretty funny actually. At least if he goes to jail he wont be a virgin for long. :D

a screen used piece of the tape that was used to hold down Princess Leia's bouncing ta-ta's.

It's a coveted piece of SW history. :D

If he'd been speeding home to bid on a mobile phone that allows internet access anywhere then this would've been all the more funny. And ironic. :)
