Is there an explanation as to why there are male and female transformers?

 

Male Formers comes First than The Female Formers come Second in G1.

 

Not yet to my knowledge.

Nah, not in Animated anyways. We have various explanations in other universes, but frankly I think explanations are better left alone for the most part. Just except that there are male and female robots.

 

Primus works in mysterious ways.

 

The Allspark decided that Cybertronians had to have males and females. That's it. End of discussion. Divine will. It happens.

 

The IDW reason will screw with your mind. I keep hoping it'll be silently retconned.

 

I hope so, too. The idea of there always being female Transformers seems more 'natural', more appealing and less 'forced' than having Jhiaxus invent them.

Why? Did IDW publish a "Transformer Animated"-Comic-book, where it was explained how female Transformers came to be? Because what happened in other continuities does not apply to Transformers Animated. It wouldn't to any of the Transformers of the Unicron Trilogy, nor the G1-Cartoon, or whatever there is.

 

No. And to explain it would give you a headache. It's just one of those things that just is.

No. I think people were just mentioning that they didn't like the way it was done in that particular universe. Animated has no why or how yet... and probably never will given that the writers probably don't feel a need to explain it the way Furmon always has (and that's because he thinks it's a silly concept, but when you look at it having them all seem overly masculin is just as silly...).

I will groan aloud if they attempt to explain it to Sari, but since this is a childs K-toon show they probably will leave all that shinanigins to the comic book theory. Try to ignore the question or it will distort your mind and you will have an urge to write fanfiction.

 

It helps me to think of it in a regard that Male and Female bots are not an indication of procreation in the Cybertronian species. It's just a personality index that is there (ultimately) to create a broader appeal for the audience/consumer of the entertainment.

But if you want scientific explanations, i believe that you should not abide by Earth Science/Mechanical Engineering. Earth Science and Mechanical engineering doesn't have the capacity to assign true personality, emotion, or gender to our robots. It's quite feasible that Cybertronian scientific understanding and mechanical/technical precision are far beyond human understanding and reasoning. There's a lot of things in Transformers that readily defy Earth Science, i don't see why gender should be thought of differently.

At the end of the day, Transformers are essentially big metallic "people" that aren't carbon based life forms. How's that work for you?
