Chromed his Gun, missile and shins, now to try to track down where I put the hands I bought for him!

How were you able to use the chrome pen tip to fit in for the crevices of the gun muzzle and other areas? Do you have to remove pins and do some disassembling to fully access all areas of the shin?

 

I need to get a fine point one to do at the top of the shins but for the gun, it is liquid so a couple of passes and it reaches in easily. Honestly, up close it's obviously not a pro job but it looks good enough for me  

I'll be giving a better detailing when I get my fine point pen in.

They have 1mm 2mm and 4mm.

 

Is that something that you could get at an art store? Could you give a brand name or other descriptor for a good chrome pen?

 

its called molotow liquid chrome pen. it would be by the model paints.

if you live near hobby lobby they have it in 1mm and 2mm. they didnt have it in 4mm at the one i went to.

4mm, that same brand. Just bought the 1mm for the tiny spots.

 

I own one of the thicker Molotow liquid chrome pens. They’re pretty good. You can get a semi-reflective finish if applied properly. The only thing I hate about them is that the chromed area is susceptible to finger prints even after a considerable cure time. It ruins the finish. Also, a clear coat like Future will degrade the finish and make it look like silver paint. I read that there are certain sealers that won’t hurt the chrome finish as much. Just can’t remember which.

I’m waiting for Molotow to release a proper gold chrome pen because it’s next to impossible to recreate gold chrome. Applying a layer of Tamiya clear yellow, like Future, will dull the finish. Having a gold chrome pen will be nice for the eventual Bounceback release, not mention touching up the gold chrome on the FT and Giga Dinobots.

In addition to gold chrome pens we need red chrome.

 

So this was the project that you spoke of yesterday? It looks great! Now that I think about it, my TFP FE Optimus could use some chrome.
