Yeah who the hell is talking about infringement here? Most emblems have a colored backing if we want it so theres no reason to do a white area around a red area that isn't even the right shape or size. I'd rather it have just been solid blue or at least one of the reprolabels be a solid blue option so I could make it match the cartoon.

 

Question - how easy is it to remove Downbeat's swirly grey plastic parts and paint them? Because if I got this figure, I'd really, really need to do that.

Also, are there any pictures of how he looks when decals are applied?

 

I just painted them without even removing them the way they are its not hard if you are careful

 

Easy enough to pop the feet off and paint them.
The flaps on his shins require removal of a pin, and I didn't feel like it so I just painted those bits by hand, which is easy and doesn't have any real paint rub issues. Also might wanna paint the gun and missile too. And the faces silver too if you prefer.
It's a fantastic figure no doubt, but it does look a lot nicer with those parts silver.

I remember seeing that same silhouette floating around several months back. It was fake even then.

I quite like the insignia spots. Not having them has been my biggest gripe with things like Warbotron and MMC.

 

That would really surprise me if they revealed a jazz. The Sunstreaker interview said that they are looking into the 4×4 bots next and they're alternating between G1 and Beast Wars now so I'd figure jazz is nowhere in sight.

Yeah but the problem with warbotron isn't the lack of a specially molded insignia spot. The problem is that there isn't anywhere free of greeblies to put one. If the hadn't put a molded red emblem spot on Downbeat, it would've been a simple matter to slap whatever sized emblem you wanted wherever you wanted it on his chest. Since they made a spot you could only use a specific sized emblem and even worse, they got the proportions wrong so no existing emblem could be used. When I did my decal sheet, I had to carefully measure the spot so I could get my custom printed emblem to line up just right.

In fact, I don't know about the stock warbo but my ko os did have a molded insignia spot on the combiner chest plate and it's sized awfully. Too small for any of the medium to large emblems and too large for the tiny ones.
