I hear ya. I'm a bit biased towards Jazz. He was my first transformer I got when I was 5. I got it as a Xmas gift before I even had seen the cartoon and was in complete shock that a car could turn into a robot. I mean, what a concept! My five year old self was blown away by that.

Pretty sure the Datsun mold is impossible to beat but Downbeat is a close contender. I may be a bit biased however.

IMG_1207.JPG IMG_1208.JPG Tamiya clearcoat over Reprolabels. The clearcoat wasn't as mirror smooth as I had hoped but still pretty happy with the "painted" look.

I sprayed on another layer of clearcoat and it looks great now.

The more I look at the various pics people have posted, I am (and I never thought I'd say this) preferring him without all the decals. Obviously, the dry rubs look better than the stickers but even then, I'm actually preferring the cleaner look without them. In the past, I'd have said he absolutely needs the Martini and Porsche names on but now...nope. I really dig the cleaner look and all I would want is the OG centre stripe over the plain cartoon inspired one, the lighter blue ones on the rims and the 4 on the doors. The rest just doesn't look nice on the robot mode. Wheeljack gets away with it because you can't see most of them in robot mode but there'd be no hiding them on this/a Takara Jazz.

    Agreed...

I went for a minimalist approach of adding just a few, the stripes mainly...

I'm with you, I've grown to prefer the cleaner naked look. The only thing I'll be adding is a faction symbol.

I transformed mine from alt to bot mode for the first time last night. The process was pretty intuitive until the lower legs/feet. I would have liked to see the wheel/ankle area lock or tab in somewhere. I'll need to find some close up pics of the feet from all sides including the bottom to make sure I did mine correctly.

I really want to like this guy... but the lack of sponsors is killing it for me. How durable are the Reprolabels?

That looks good to me. Does it chip easily? Is it crazy to use that pen for the swirly plastic on the feet?
