I love the original toy to death, own both the megatron and galvatron molds and eagerly await this.

I will buy every recolor of it they do if the toy is solid. One of my favorite designs of all time.

 

In this series' case, those three and maybe also Vector Prime. Trying the really obscure/background characters first might have been what lead to Mech iDeas' Techno Toon Titans line falling so flat. (among other possible factors) Best to get the interest with the well known guys to build confidence. Maketoys did it with Cross Dimension by putting out Striker Manus and Rioter Despotron. (and I love that they're being consistent with the names of their characters. Manus, Despotron, and Meteor for Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream respectfully. Almost wish this guy was being called Galaxy Despotron but oh well)

 

Excellent points. I think that as much as there may be vocal support for more obscure characters on forums like this, the 3P market is fairly expansive. The odds of selling at least enough units to make back your money and then get into profit will be much more reliable when you put the "big name" characters into production. Then, after you've established your product line with a reputation of good quality and design, then branch out to the more "risky" characters.

I also really like the consistency in naming the various iterations of Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream in the Cross Dimension line.

 

Unlike g1, I never saw a need to buy any of the "second" forms of any of the characters in the Unicron trilogy. It was literally just the same guy, again, sometimes with a name change. (Aside from energon sixshot oddly enough) why would I want the variant form of the character that they introduced 3/4 of the way into the show when I can by the original that I've spent a majority of the story getting visually used to?

 

It's probably too much to hope that a prototype pic will show up in a display case soon huh?  

 

It's still a nice thing if the original colors didn't do it for someone. And Cybertron Galvatron's colors are gorgeous. Seeing as I still have my old Cybertron Megatron, albeit a bit worse for wear, (translucent plastic peg holes in the center of the rear wheels was definitely a misstep...) and this would basically be an upgrade to that toy, I'd probably be in for the Galvatron version if they do it.

 

100% on board with the Cybertron love. Now do it for Armada and I'm all-in even more

 

I kinda wish they had started with armada instead of cybertron...it's a waaaaay smaller cast of characters. They could have finished all of them relatively quickly.

 

But then there's more opportunity to jump around with Cybertron's larger cast and more designs that can draw in the "Ooh, that looks cool" crowd. At least that's my guess.

armada Optimus, jetfire, and overload figures would be nice to combine them but I think I want a solid savage claw and dark claw mode even more. That was a let down in the originals toys!

 

Like i've said before,they did galaxy force because the people at maketoys loved the show.And when you put passion and genius into a singular goal,you get awesome figures that's what you get.

 

It would be great if it could separate into a smaller car mode and jet mode AND a combined (tank?) mode? Or just make the car mode a tank?

More like a Megatron having rebuilt himself using parts of Unicron. (thus the stylized horns) If you don't like them, you could always just leave them down. I imagine Maketoys' version will be the same way.

 

Cool. Have no idea about the character as Transformers for me was Seasons 1-3 and movie, straight into Beast Wars (skipping all the Japanese exclusive shows) then Beast Machines. And thats where it ended.
IDW is a cool alternate reality of TF I dig but zero interest in any of the rest. I’ve tried at various times with different shows but I’m too old for them now I think.
This will be purchased in the Silver deco and go on my shelf as an alternate Megs. If there’s a way to minimise the silly cat ears all the better.
