So I was one of the lucky few to pick up an early MakeToys Green Giant at TFCON (great con!). While there, I was able to see an a test shot of the TFC Rage of Hercules set and take some side by side pictures of the two together for what I believe is the first time. Sorry about the pictures not being the best I didn't bother bringing my DSLR.

Great pics!...side by side, Herc look absolutely massive!...

Giant in green is REALLY looking good...think I prefer his green shade over Hercs...

each one is nice in it's own way...which is why I bought both (just waiting on 61 Giant to ship). Giant's head looks a bit too small though to me.

 

Nice side-by-side. Actually, the height difference between the two isn't so great, after all. Only reason Herc seems so wide is because he has the Rage add-on set; he definitely needs some leg extenders to even out the proportions better. At the moment, Giant is the better proportioned (and more G1 accurate) combiner, in my view. Still getting both though. =)

i think hercs shoulders look too high with the add on , just looks very odd to me

 

The size difference isn't as much as I thought it would be. Looks nice, but I'll stick to Herc for now, especially with all these other combiners releasing soon gotta save the monehhh....

 

Wow. Those pictures almost make me wish I had gone full tilt towards Giant. I'm happy I have both though.

I'm very undecided about the Rage of Hercules set. I don't know if it's worth the price of admission.

 

wow finally seeing the 2 side by side has cemented my love for Giant, specially seeing that the height difference isn't all that much

 

I think what's making Giant look so much better in these side by sides is his lack of purple randomly placed all over like Herc...

It's not just that for me. Giant has better hips, which makes for better leg possibility, something that can't be fixed on Hercules without redoing Heavy Labor. Tough this may seem insignificant for others (it matters quite a bit to me), Giant doesn't look all that boring from the back either.

I need to think long and hard about keeping Hercules or letting him go. I wouldn't have minded keeping him, but I really want to purchase Giant and the next two combiners coming out very soon, and I don't know if I'll be able to get them all at once. Oh, what to do...

Wow to me Herc just out does Giant totally here, Giant looks good candy stripes aside but Herc is just awesome, can't wait for the rage kit, maybe I'll pick up a green giant along the way some where but he's just not a need for me right now.

 

Haha, I'm sure someone will chime in with that sooner or later. XD Herc has size going for him but that's really about it (and I speak as someone who owns and likes him enough to currently display Herc as the main centerepiece of my G1 Cons display).

With the Rage set add-on (and possible leg extenders either from Shapeways, TFC or another 3P) he'd look much more G1 accurate as far as proportions go, but that also defeats one of Herc's qualities--self containment and lack of partsforming. Kind of a trade-off there, in which case, Giant ends up being the more self-contained combiner (since his extraneous parts can be used in other modes outside of combined form much like FP Colossus).

I'm down with getting Giant to display with FP Bruticus and my G1 Revoltechs (and throw in FP Menasor for a Cons combiner threeway throwdown).

 

The only thing i dont like in giant are those kneepad looking things that make up long haul's feet.
