As a term of art, there's a difference between a 'generic' term and a 'descriptive' one.

A descriptive term is one that means what the goods are. You could not claim 'water' as a trademark for water, for example, or 'denim pants' for denim pants. Those are not names, merely descriptions of the product.

A generic term is one that is in such common use that it has ceased to function as an identifier of the source of goods in question... examples like hula-hoop, aspirin and thermos are all words that were once trademarks but have ceased to be so because they are commonly used to mean the same type of goods from several different possible providers. In essence, a generic term is one that, through popular usage, was a trademark but is now merely descriptive.

Convoy is a term for a group of vehicles travelling togther... but that doesn't necessarily translate to a single vehicle that turns into a robot. It is not generic, since most people do not refer to multiply-configurable toy robots as 'convoys'.

With the way this company is going I think it will be MP size and will match their Megatron. I think these companies are just doing their own thing now. Toyworld is releasing their own Optimus and I'm sure their stuff will scale with it. I think its 12", but not really sure

I'm actually excited for the reveal 2moro. I haven't felt that way about a figure in a while.

I love it when 3rd parties build their own universes with the characters.

If you look at Maketoys Cross Dimension's FB page, they got artwork of Despotron that didn't look anything like that of their MP Megatron, which was very G1-ish. I believe this line won't be MP-scaled.

Anyone else think that Maketoys' Atorasu concept would work well in this line?

Maybe it's just me wanting to see that design released... :(

I'm honestly ok with these looking just like those drawings; no added detailing or anything. Man oh man.

Not thrilled by any of this, I'd rather they put their resources into the manga mech and battle tanker lines.

I tried autoleveling that picture, and a tiny bit of detail came out.

It appears to be Convoy and Despotron with power-ups.

I wish Battle Tanker would die, I find their Striker Convoy much more interesting. BT has such dated engineering and limited articulation that it is absolutely worthless to me now.

Me too. I didn't expect this much story building for this line.

Yep. Been on my wish list ever since it was shown.

    Same.

This is looking promising (as is the Cross Dimension Megs). Hoping for somewhere around Voyager size since that'd fit better in my collection. But heck, I may just have to get these guys if they look cool enough.

I liked the original one image they showed a lot more than these latest ones. The overall silhouette reminds me too much of Classics and IDW OP to be particularly interesting.

I think they are implying there is a normal mode, and a powerup mode. The one without should cannons is normal mode, where the one with the cannons is powerup. Much like Powermaster Optimus.
