Hot diggety damn, he looks awesome. The proportions are perfect and the MakeToys styling totally works. Here's hoping they give him a nice silver finish instead of leaving him an unpainted grey like Hegemon.

Also, not a dealbreaker if this isn't the case, but do we know if the cannon can be mounted on his right arm? I'm just so used to seeing Megs as a righty that it doesn't look quite right to me for him to have it on his left. I'm in for this guy either way, but I'd definitely appreciate that option.

 

All three cannons can be mounted on either arm or the back, they all use the same big slot attachment points.

 

Does he still transform into a gun, does anybody know?

 

Ah ok, I'm seeing the rails now. Kinda odd that they left the cannon on his left arm for all of the pictures in which it's arm-mounted then. Maybe it needs to stay on there in order for the figure to transform "perfectly" without partsforming on account of the asymmetrical design.

 

Wow he looks great! I can't wait to get him! He will make a better MTMTE Megs in my collection than the new TR one coming out. Glad I am going with him.

Hey, he might be ugly but that doesn't mean it'll be a bad toy. There's plenty of characters that are ugly but I still like. Hoist is ugly for instance  

 

Absolutely can't wait for this and the rest of this line! So refreshing to get a unique take on classic characters. All the strict adherence to the G1 cartoon is really starting to get stale (MP line excluded of course).

Best way I can describe this line is an inoffensive blend of movie and classic

Sort of like TFP was movie + animated proportions

This is movie slim/round/busy but not too much, with g1 mindedness

I'm not feeling MTs Megatron, then again I wasn't a fan of their Optimus Prime until I saw the colored photos.

 

Meh. I don't really care for this.

 

It's good to see MakeToys cut loose and make something unique that really plays up what they can do. I love seeing stuff like this.

 

Not my thing at all but I like the design.

 

I was about 70% on Manus, but once I saw Desprotron - I'm in 100% on both. I'm so tired of having an Optimus with no matching Megatron. MT giving us both quickly - makes me very happy. Plus the size works for me - as I generally keep around the CHUG scale.

 

It looks better in plastic than the initial pictures let one, but even so I would have preferred something more to the effect of the standard Despotron, as even for a Classics-esque rendition of Megatron this is perhaps just a little TOO stylized. Not that it's really that bad, but it pushes the aesthetics just a notch further than I think is comfortably compatible with Striker Manus... plus it looks likely that it's alt mode will be another space-whatever so no dice.

 

plus, if they keep it at $80 - that's a great price.
