I'm late to this party but one of my Birthday Gifts was this Guy.....



I really shouldn't have doubted a Maketoys product for this long. So to atone I ordered Striker as well.

It's turned into an expensive day.

So I finally got up the courage to pry the head off an £80 figure that isn't intended to be removable and try this........



And while it may be heresy to some here , I think I'm going to keep it like that. The MMC head needed some enlarging of the peg cavity and hair-dryer heating but it works for me.

I'll have to get another one now to keep stock. This shit adds up.

I don't know if it was intentional, but does anyone else notice the sort-of Decepticon symbol built into his chest? The purple gem is the triangle-y forehead bit and there're two lines on either side. Under that are two little holes for the eyes, and beside them are a sort-of outline for the cheeks/chin.

Maybe I'm looking too deep into it/seeing what I want to, but it's all there.

holy fuck this toy is cool as hell. i might've ham-handed him because one of his crotch flaps is loose and i don't think it was before i transformed him, but it's still attached so eh. also dropped the grey chest piece as soon as i picked it up but i found it.

cool fuckin toy. tons of smooth, natural articulation. like posing a genocidal stick of butter. also diggin the decepticon matrix. need a hegemon to give it to though.

also love the cybertronian gun mode. very much balances looking like a gun while also being alien in design. i don't dig the partsforming but it issss technically optional, so...

 

It's a bit too "daring" as to get it to fit I had to enlarge the peg-cavity and that's a one shot deal. I had a spare Miner Head so it was no big deal there but that may be an issue for anyone else trying. The Miner head works because of the dark-grey helmet, the regular champagne-coloured head may not match the body tones as well.

 

the more i play with him the more i notice he's like a gimmickier, smoother classics megatron. the leg placement in alt mode, the chest and head transformation...

all good though, i got henkei megs lately and it's quickly become one of my favorite molds.

 

is he in stock anywhere still? i'm looking to get rioter and striker noir....but BBTS is out of stock on both

turns out one of his hip flaps was loose, it was just slowly tearing off the joint lol. removed the broken one and the working one. throws off proportions a little but nothing too crazy. still a badass toy

 

Don't waste your time on BBTS anymore and use TCP

 

Funny, I tried the same when I got my Tyrantron... but I did not try to fit the head on the ball joint. I felt that Tyrantron's side to side head articulation was too limited on Rioter since it's wider than Rioter's head and bumps into the collar. I like Rioter's head but it's the face I'm not crazy about, I also wanted to keep the miner head for Tyrantron, good thing PSX send me a duplicate silver miner head (minus ball joint socket)!

So instead I went for the sadistic approach and did some surgery... It wasn't easy since both heads are glued together. Rioter's is so much harder to unglue, I ended up damaging the back of it trying to pull the crest off, but it's not something I can't fix (I should have just cut straight down the middle seam instead of trying to unglue it...ohh well...). I'll be adding a magnet on the head crest to be able to easily swap the face back to the original if I want to. Here's what a partly disassembled Rioter head looks like (btw, face and eyes aren't glued:

That is pretty ingenious.

 

Hmmm, neat idea but that face doesn't work at all on Rioter to me. Rioter just oozes, "I'm gonna rip you in half," which is about the last thing I get from Tyrantron's face.

 

Glad I found this thread, just got my Rioter and was worried he was a lemon or that I did something wrong. Love the figure!

 

Quick question, i want a smaller version of Despotron's gun mode for my chug figures to use, does anyone know where i can find a similar enough weapon?
I was hoping for shapeways but the demand is probably too low.
