In "Con Job", the 8th episode of the series, we are introduced to a brand new character within the Decepticons called Makeshift who can change his shape, voice, and mannerisms to impersonate other Transformers. :inquisiti

The question on my mind is whether he is simply a special Vehicon drone or a completely new Decepticon character?

I think he's some kind of highly specialized Vehicon Soldier personally, though I doubt we'll get much use out of his kind again.

What I want to know is where has he been this whole time? I guess he's been crashing in his bunk aboard ship until they needed him for this one very specific task.

And, seeing as how Gurren Lagann has been recently brought up in another thread.

"Sneak attacks only work once!" XD

Vehicons are the official name for Eradicons.

I'm thinking he was not a vehicon. They named him and I can't recall another named vehicon so far in the series. Also he's dead now so no more making with the sneaky sneaky for him. The trend of having new characters in only a single episode continues. I'm guessing you never got a good look at his protoform to make it cheaper to produce. If he's all in shadow they don't have to animate any details.

    And your point is?

Prime has Autobots and Decepticons as well, this isnt G1 either.

A tough call, but I'm thinking he could not have had too much personality to be able to down load so much about the target it is impersonating. Not just facts about the past but he seems to have even mimicked the fighting style.

I missed that, where is that from?

Even if true, the distinction is a completely false one. Vehicons are a type of Decepticon. It's like asking if Skywarp is a Decepticon or "just a special type of Seeker."

Vehicons/Eradicons/whateverocons have the same body type but they aren't drones and they aren't (personality) clones.

I don't really know, nor claim to. He's just a confusing character and it kinda makes me a bit mad that we'll never get a proper explanation of him.

I really hope this doesn't become a trend.

Although you could argue it as a nod to G1 where characters just seemed to appear out of nowhere for an episode and then disappear just as quickly. I mean, it's lazy storytelling for sure, no doubt. XD

I thought the 'con army was made up of Eradicons. When did they start getting called Vehicons? Besides, Eradicons just rolls off the tongue so much more easily.

I believe the Hubworld game or something officially identified them as Vehicons. Eradicon seems to have just been a working name.

They're never named in the show so I'll just be using both interchangably until they are.

Please I like the Eradicon name better than Vehicons. To me the Vehicons are their own faction, Eradicons are one type of drones.

I think he may have been a Vehicon/Eradicon that Soundwave altered in a special creepy way to be his minion. Since Soundwave had to ram his tentacle into his chest to format him into Wheeljack.

I doubt they've completely decided themselves.

I think this was a close as we will get to a throw away character given the simple model and lack of detail its rather easy to model.

as for being a returning character I don't think so the fact that he got a name means he's special and also really how many times could they do the doppelgänger plot?

I hope that he's a new Decepticon, but I really hope that they don't do the same thing almost every episode.

New Autobot, Makeshift comes, real Autobot comes, new Autobot wins.

    But didn't he explode?

The fact that it wasn't really mentioned, coupled with the fact that he probably won't be coming back,
seeing as he's been blown up and is probably all dead,
indicate that you shouldn't worry about it.
