    Hi folks.

Has anyone tried to make their own boxes for their customs/kitbashes? I was wondering how hard it was to make the outer box and plastic bubbles. The ones at Mirage's boxes look really nice but I guess he can’t make them too “official” looking because of the copyright issues.

Sureshot over at tfans and Jaf over at transtopia has made some really nice custom reissue and alt boxes, respectively. I'd like to learn how to do this myself. I don't think anyone has made custom bubbles yet or at least I dont know of anyone. If there are any one out there who knows how to make custom bubbles please share.

Interesting page, I like it. Personally I don't care too much the boxes but I learn that for some of the fans the boxes are very important.

I'm trying to emulate the grid pattern on the G1 boxes in photoshop... anyone know an easy way to do that other than drawing each line manually?

Edit>> Nevermind, found a guide, as you can plainly see :lol

The only place I know of to buy Custom Bubbles is this link, which is geared more toward Star Wars-type figures. They look to work decently for Action Master cards (which I've done a couple of custom cards for), but probably won't fit most TFs. Currently the only thing I know is to save the bubbles from the original carded TFs, and this often involves sanding to clear away the remaining color from where the bubble was attached. (I've also gotten a Hot Wheels bubble I intend to use on a G2 Gobot custom, but this isn't finished, so I can't speak to the final effect. Anyone with source art for Blowout or G2 Frenzy?)

One problem I've recently discovered with my own custom boxes is that the ink fades when exposed to certain kinds of light. (If it matters, I used an HP OfficeJet 5510) I'm told that placing clear plastic (such as glossy transparent tape) over the printed paper will solve this, but other than the tape I'd used to keep the packages shut (areas which indeed have not faded), I can't speak to actual experience.

I'm willing to share my designs with anyone who wishes to use them. I've done a few McDonalds Happy Meal toys (Tankor, Panther, Rhino, and Manta Ray), one G1 repaint (Cosmos turned silver in a custom I called "Astrostar"), a few Action Master cards (all custom repaints), and a custom G1 Headmaster Jr. head (a black repaint of Nightbeat's head. I call it "Spoiler." This box is very small, but I oversized the template.). Just send me a PM with an e-mail address if interested. My files are in Photoshop format.

has anyone made a stab at a custom g1 box for their alt/bt's yet. haven't seen 'em but once i saw this thread title, the idea hit me like a ton of feathers.

talk about "g1 homage" that would be the ultimate.
