I've been meaning to get this together for some time, but now, here we are! This is a pretty simple modification if you take a little time, care, and patience.

I did this mod recently... not to give him removable guns, but just to allow the jet pods to swivel around to face the other direction. I find that it allows you to unfold the tail section and give it a bit of flexibility that makes it feel a bit more "sharky".

Of course, the first pod I was able to pop off by loosening it up a bit, as explained above. On the second pod, the glue wouldn't let go, and the peg snapped right off. I had to reattach it with a tiny screw. So be careful!

(and yeah, that's an oversize KO Sharkticon in back (about voyager size) and a dyed Hasbro Sharkticon in front)

Nice mod, however the text in the last two pics is the same... (I think you meant to use something different?)

Yeah, and I'd recommend doing what you did! I never said it was a quick modification, just one that the skill level is "easy". :D

I mean, essentially, you're just twisting those things and popping 'em off. The trick is to do it without breaking the pegs. I think I'm at 50% there :lol  Like I said, though, even if the pegs break off, you can still complete the mod :)

Again, thanks for your help there, Meth :)  Just to note, I've since fixed the error. I'd also like to say that I honestly was about to just sell my E-Sharkies (I have 2), and this mod convinced me to keep em. I'm really glad I did, as I gained a greater appreciation for the mold and have had a lot of fun with the figure since :)

Energon Sharkticon is a remarkable mold... it's surprising that Hasbro never re-used it, even while repainting other junk endlessly.

One think I noticed with my oversized KO is that the different deco really brings out the distinct shark-face look more than the Hasbro deco ever did. Of course, I guess he's technically an enormous space submarine or something...

Does anyone know how to get the hardened glue off?

If you're talking about after the modification, you can use some paint thinner, but just be careful with it. For me, it really just isn't an issue.

Just tried this on my Universe E-Sharkticon and its a no go as there seems to be super glue between the fin and the arm it attaches to and it won't move in the slightest.

Right. The key is to start wiggling the fin as if you're going to twist it off (which is what you're doing!). You can start to feel the fin giving a little bit, and this means that you're being successful. The thing with superglue is that it can sometimes become very brittle, and that's generally the case with ol' Sharkitcon here. The more you work with it is the more and more that superglue looses its hold. You'll know when you've overtaken the superglue. If you've done things correctly, you'll then be able to just twist it right out of the peg hole. If the peg happens to break off, you can simply use another tool to push it out, and then use superglue to fix the peg. I've been able to do both, and all four of mine work well (I have two Sharkticons, and I did this mod with both of them).

I wonder if boiling some water and soaking the forearm in the hot water for half a minute first might help weaken the glue?

I mean, if the plastic softens a bit, the slight amount of expanding and contraction might help loosen the glue's hold.

Well, I guess someone should just try it? As long as you don't immerse it too long in actively boiling water, it's not like it'll melt the plastic. It should be safe to test...

I've already done mine, so I can't help there.
