You're all aware of those gold painted Transformers, but I think Hasbro or Takara should actually make them out of solid gold, or knock off gold. It would be worth it, anyone can spray paint a Transformer, so why not have the real thing?

No, it would be $10,000 for a Cyberverse.

I'll stick with the gold vacuum-metalized chrome, thanks.

Waste of time. They should perfect Adamantium and make Transformers out of that instead.

I would love a Gold edition of Optimus Prime, a completely gold version of his G1 toy.

Oooh, or a completely gold version of his WST toy, with Trailer and Roller! Yeah, I wonder how much Gold you would need to actually do that?

It'd be an untransformable, soft piece of crap, so no.

This. Real gold figures would literally warp in your hands transforming them.

And of course it would fail the drop test.

Imagine dropping a solid gold G1 Prime on your toes.

    Just reissue Fort Max instead.

    What is knock off gold?

There hasn't been a gold TF, but there's a Convoy/Optimus figure (not transformable) made of solid silver. 100 pieces exist.

As expensive as the Lucky Draws are imagine the real thing and like previously stated they would warp in your hand transforming them. There's a reason they aren't and I'm sure it's been tried though.

That would be a really stupid idea, given how expensive, how heavy, and how soft gold is. It would be like the Titanium line, with all the problems amped up to 11 and affordable only to the exceedingly wealthy.

Also by "fake gold" I assume he means gold below 24kt, which, granted, would make it more feasible, but not to any useful degree.

I wouldn't mind seeing a welded/machined/forged steel (or even Aluminum, I guess) Transformer instead of die-cast though, even if that wouldn't really be feasible either.

Reasons why this would never work:

    New moulds:

Usually, you can't use the same moulds if you move between plastic and metals. For instance, die cast shrinks as it cools, so when certain G1 toys moved from die cast to plastic (ie, chest pieces on combiner limbs), smaller moulds had to be made. If you went the other way, you'd need larger moulds. I assume a similar rule would apply to gold.

    So long posability/stability!

Remember how crap 6" Titaniums are for posing? Magnify that tenfold.

    Price:

You'd better start harvesting some organs.

Got a transforming gold-plated Soul of Chogokin die-cast figure, so why not?

I think he meant actual solid gold. What you have isn't anything they haven't done before, it's just gold plate instead of colored vacuum-metalized chrome . Think about it, a solid gold TF. Those Chogokin are pricey. That would be new car prices. :D
