I personally think ms magnus is just too small. He looks ok in the pictures with the other bots. but they can be deceiving as well. It feels like all MS bots are super bland, thin and tiny and that just isn't my style. I am hoping the MFT treatment fixes this bad boy right up.

plus...his robo nipples are kind of freaking me out

Agreed. Magnus’ veil dance does nothing for me. This was an odd design choice I feel they could have brainstormed for 5 minutes. Whatever, he’s next on the eBay flash sale watchlist.

How do these go bot mode size with either DX9's or the MFT upscaled seekers?

In my view: great with DX9; not so great MFT. In general, MST pairs best with DX9 and Iron Factory IMO.

Dx9 seekers scale much better, Mft are too big.....

Neither has the presence, finish, or mp aesthetic that the Magic Square legends have.....

It's a subjective thing to be sure, but just to throw two more two cents into the ring: I personally think DX9's Seekers definitely have the the presence, finish, etc. of MST. (There's a reason, after all, folks once speculated that DX9 was somehow behind MST.)

Where DX9's Seekers fall short in comparison with MST IMO is in the articulation department. While their articulation is not bad per se, you're not going be able to get THIS sort of madness out of them.

In my opinion the DX9 Dutch and Newage Bumblebee are the closest match to Magic Square.....

The DX9 stuff scales almost perfectly but they are just not as elegant as the MS offerings. They are a razor thin close 2nd but just not as good.....

I'm not into the stylized Iron Factory stuff so I really can't speak on those. Also, the Unique Toys Palm Warriors aesthetically look good but I can't speak on those either as I haven't messed with them....

MFT, Mechplanet, Hot soldiers all kind of run together in my head. The scale is way off but they are reasonably priced and a great way to fill the plastic crack pipe in between other releases.....

In the end, as collectors, it's great to have choices......

And different opinions respectfully voiced -- kudos! :thumb

PS I'd recommend giving the Unique Headmasters a try. They're not all equally successful, but I think the Brainstorm/Mindwipe and Highbrow/Apface sets are real winners.

    Quoting for concurrence.

They have some minor articulation shortcomings compared to the current Legends-scale standards that MST has ushered in, but the jets pair well with MST's roadies for sure:

I am curious to see what MST would do with the Seekers though.

^ Hear hear, honey over vinegar my friend....

Those UT Headmasters are super tempting, but I know the Chromedome set is pretty scarce. For me anyway, it's hard to jump in on a line if I can't complete it. OCD is a bear sometimes.....

^Me too, if MS comes out with a seeker line, I'm all-in.....

I have all of the DX9 Seekers and Coneheads + all of the MFT jets. If MS does them too, some of them will have to be displayed in alt mode I guess.

Oh well, good problems to have.....

Hear ya on the OCD front! I passed on the Chromedome set originally -- I liked Weirdwolf well enough, but Chromedome looked underwhelming (and indeed I do think he's the weakest of the bunch along w/Skullcruncher) -- but then got sucked in by Hardhead and Brainstorm, who both looked fantastic. Took me a bit, but I was eventually able to go back and get the first set after Baba found a couple and threw 'em up on eBay. I lucked out on that one for sure.

Woot! Instock at TFSource. All I need is for IF Jazz to come in and I can ship my stack.

Thanks lads, I went and ordered Red Canon and decided to try MFT Rain maker 3-pack. The last 3rd part legends I'd picked up were the Unique Toys palm Head masters (all 5 sets as they came up) and that cute Newage Bumblebee.

Though I have feeling MS Huffer will arrive before IF Jazz.

Sure, I have pretty much ALL of the MFT Decepticons [plus a ton of Iron Factory, DX9, Hot Soldiers, etc. figures]... would you like to see someone specific in comparison to MS Magnus?

Just let me know and I'll snap some pics when I get home from work in a couple of hours.
