Is it a good toy? How big is it? Any die-cast?

    I assume you mean this:
    http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_bandai_vf17s.htm
(or the more recent re-issue in a new box style, same toy either way)

It's mostly plastic, though it's got metal hinges here and there. Nowhere near the diecast content of the "chunky monkey" bandai vf-1s. As a toy, I guess it's good. Very old style in terms of poseability and playability. Don't expect lots of dynamic gerwalk poses like you can get from a yamato or anything.

There are (or at least, WERE, 5 or so years ago) quite a few bootlegs of this guy around as well which have thinner plastic and no metal in the joints.

I have one of these and it's not bad for a figure. My problem is with the legs, at the hip, you kind of have to force them back in place, other then that, not much for articulation.
