Lunar: The Silver Star returns on PSP

"Lunar: The Silver Star, the classic Sega CD/PlayStation role-playing game from Game Arts, will be re-released on the PSP. Rather than a full remake, Gungho Works' Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star appears to be an enhanced port of the PlayStation game -- the screens in the Famitsu scan retain the classic 2D look of the PlayStation version, but the article claims that the PSP version features "new scenarios."

Siliconera cleverly speculated that this title would be the "enhanced remake of a classic PSOne RPG" that XSEED plans to announce in the near future. This game is well-known enough among PlayStation RPG lovers to be worth teasing."

I'd go with this PSP remake since it's going to be an expanded edition.

Yeah the PSP version. The PS1 version is awesome, but this one will have some good enhancements. I read about this yesterday and I'm glad I did, because I was about to hunt the old PS1 version down.

Lunar was one of my favorite PS1 games. Looking forward to seeing what's expanded.

This and my copy of Valkyrie Profile are the only reasons I'll be keeping my PSP.

I still have the original Sega CD game, because you can listen to the music off the game disc. I ripped the music to my PS3 and listen to it from time to time. This will be an amazing revisiting to an awesome RPG. I hope they are a little merciful with the difficulty. I don't have as much time to level for hours like I used to.

I found my copy at a Play n Trade for 8 bucks, as well as Snatcher for 5 all in the same store. I got pretty luck on both games.

I need to get back and play my Sega CD copy sometime...

Eternal Blue was harder than Silver Star, I thought. But this is great. I HOPE LUFIA RETURNS.

If you have those discs (good find on Snatcher) you can get a Sega CD emulator that will run the discs from your PC.

Oh yeah it was, especially the Sega CD version. Those battles against Borgan and Zophar in particular were nasty.

This is great news. My favorite RPGs of all time (I owned the Sega CD version and still own the PS1 and GBA versions) with character designs by my favorite anime artist Toshiyuki Kubooka (who also did chracter designs for my favorite anime of all time, Giant Robo).

I will definitely pick this up and hope for a re-release of Eternal Blue as well.

    RIP Working Designs :D

Well for starters, the original art for towns and such was birds eye view, so if they are redesigning dungeons and towns to be beautifully-drawn isometric, I am going to be one happy Lunar fan.

anyone remember the bug in the first release of the sega cd version that would cause the music to stop and then the game would lock up if you tried to leave the screen you were on? that frustrated me to no end, except when I found out you could cure it by giving the system a good whack, causing the disc to skip and play to resume :)

Hahaaha, I don't remember that. I would have LOLed back then if I found out about that solution. I do remember the typo on the back of the case though.

God, Borgan was the boss from HELL in the Sega CD one.

Ubisoft released the Lunar Legend port for the GBA a couple years back and then there was that horrible Lunar DragonSong for the DS after that. So I guess the license is just bouncing around.
