I do that alot when I have bad dreams I can usually wake myself...I don't know how I jut wake up

(sort of reminds me of insidious when you talk about out of body experiences)

Yeah, I've read about lucid dreaming, I wish I could do it. I've been going through some crap in my life lately and I've had dreams of my teeth falling out. I know what those dreams mean and what is causing them, but they still freak me the heck out :lol

Not doing this again by choice. Ended up with sleep paralysis. Feeling wide awake, unable to move and not alone in my bedroom. Something at the foot of my bed looking at me, some kind of horrible being, not human. I have never felt terror like I did then and I never want to again.

So, why are so many people "terrified" of this? Personally I find it fascinating, however thanks to Insidious I have no desire to try any of it.

I've had an OBE before, but it wasn't through inducing sleep paralysis, but did end in some type of sleep paralysis. It happened 6 years ago when I was in high school. I didn't run into any other spirits, but it did feel like I had traveled to a warm, heavenly like place.

Personally I've been wondering the same, especially on a board where people talk so much about 'heroic' characters. Its not like heroes don't get pants pissingly scared, too, they just man up and take care of what must be done.

But then I've spent the last decade learning about and gaining the tools to deal with this kind of stuff (yes, even things showing up and trying to terrorize me), so I've kind of gotten a 'man the fuck up!' (even if you're a girl! :lol  ) attitude toward other people's fear of it.

Lucid dreaming I've never really had.

Waking nightmares used to be a constant for me though.

    Two completely different things.

They completely suck. I believe it's due to high levels of stress. The pressure on the chest and not being able to move is the worst but hearing the faint sounds from a dream is freaky too. Eventually I figured out what was happening and learned to calm myself. They went away a couple years ago thankfully. I think the worst ones were after my cousin had died and one after a friend had died.

    How stoned were you? :sly2:

I used to have sleep paralysis frequently when I was living in Belgium a few years ago, but I never found it scary. It's just trippy having a sense of proprioception without being able to move.

In b4 GENOZAUR teaches his dog this method in hope of sleep paralysis.

It's a rare case when someone wakes up but their body's still asleep. They're concious but can't move at all for a period of time.

It's actually common and you're actually awake and aware but your body has a defense mechanism it uses during natural sleep in REM stage to prevent movement.

Some refer to them as waking nightmares because the dissolution of dream (most instances nightmares causing this from stress) into reality. Sweating, loss of breath, panic and chest pressure occur. Shadows are often seen. It is the number one cause of supposed alien abduction stories :)

I've heard about this but have been skeptical whether or not I should try it. I have severe anxiety issues and am worried that if I tried it, I'd legitimately think I was going insane.

You can't try it as far as I know. It occurs naturally and isn't artificially induced. The OP link is most likely a scam (as you have to purchase a system) and the whole new age look of the site gives me red flags. It's like those LED goggles from the 80s that supposedly reprogrammed your subconscious.
