    classics Rotorstorm with new legs

Now, this guy is a commission and he's been hanging around here for far too long and he still isn't finished so I'm giving him a big push these next two weeks so that I can get payment for him

The idea was simple, the upper half suits as a classics rotorstorm but those legs are just too movie like, hence new legs!

originally i was going to build new ones, i measured the plastic cut them out and even went so far as to glue one together to see what it looked like, I wasn't that impressed with it and it only really worked for robot mode so I scrapped those pieces instead turning towards the lower legs from my Henkei Thundercracker KO. (I have the Gen version instead now)

The new landing gear skies were the only part I kept from the scratch built legs as I like how they came out, they are styrene glued on top of the two handle/kneepads left over from a Generations Darkmount which are perfect since I want those to be rotational for switching between modes

Excuse the white tack, it's just there to hold stuff together until I glue it on later this week (or in the case of the skies, drill the hole in the legs.)

He is also going to have knee pads added to hide the join as well as evoke the LSOTW version.

This is the project that has prevented me from making Overchargers!

Ok good, I am glad to see that with new legs this mold can look G1. I need a Helicopter and Armada Cyclonus just isnt making the cut.

That looks amazing, the seeker legs work so well in classicizing the mold. Can't wait to get my grubby mitts on it. My apologies to all those waiting on Overchargers :)

This seems to be going so well man, I'll be following this thread.
I Like the solution you found for the arms/chopper tail.

Really? I preffered the styrene myself.

The paint work is top notch though

The problem with the styrene was that it just didn't work for the vehicle mode as it stuck out far too much at the back.

    Update

I test fitted the legs today & I am satisfied with them, now I can putty them in place to hold them steady and get ready for full painting.

The only problem is now I have found that the landing skis are not big enough to reach the ground with the feet on the legs I'll get around this by making new skies that fit over the old ones so they reach the ground preventing the nose from doing so. Tricky business these new legs it seem but at least they work for robot mode

pictures show how tall he is in comparison to Tomahawk, Kup and Impactor and a kreon helping hold up the cockpit to the desired level in vehicle mode.

I like what your doing here, it's just without the dual rotors behind his head, it doesn't say Rotorstorm to me. However, the colors are dead on, and I'm liking the legs so far. Nice work, man.

Duel Rotors? He's got just as many as the original toy and I've had two ;)

Thanks for the compliment though, I just hope he carries on shaping up as well as he has been.

He's certainly getting there now, just a bit of filing to do on the greenstuff holding the tail fins to his arms, some touch up paints, alterations to the skis and sealing and he'll be done, this project has taken me too long really, I think it's due to the scratch building I had to do, from now on I think I'm going to stick to pure repaints for commissions unless it's small alterations and try develop scratch building during my own personal projects (got one in mind involving a BW Cheetor and a Universe 2.0 Cheetor to try and get good bot and beast modes.

Anyway, here is Rotorstorm as of this moment, and I have to say, I like how he's turning out :) .

This is awesome man, I absolutely love it! Those legs look so perfect now, well worth all the work it took to get them like that. You have convinced me that, as much as I like how my Tomahawk looks stock, I am going to eventually paint him up as Rotorstorm too. It's just too great looking not to do.

The paint looks a little caked on in some spots, particularly with the light blue, but it's nice work nonetheless. Using the seeker legs was a nice touch as well. I love the customs of the more obscure TF's and Euro G2 is no exception.

Strange, his toy was listed under G2 over at TFU.info, which is what I was looking at while viewing this thread.

    Rotorstorm (1992) - Autobot Guide & Strategician - www.tfu.info

I'll also laugh if I encounter any wrath whatsoever.

    G2!!! How dare you sir!

Hah, this looks awesome, I generally avoid the movie toys but this did look like a decent mold, I'm tempted to try this for my G1.5 collection.
