First Look At Gears of War In Your Lost Planet 2 - Lost planet 2 - Kotaku
I like it.
I loved the first Lost Planet.
I love Gears of War.
I love Marcus Fenix.
I didn't even play Lost Planet, and I'm gonna buy this. I can't miss any antics Dom and Marcus might get into.
So......awesome. But why?
Microsoft has struck a deal with Capcom to help the 360. Other examples are the exclusive Juri anime for the 360 SSF4 and Monster Hunter for 360, plus other stuff I don't know.
If that's the case, both companies must be really desperate.
Lost Planet 1 really wasn't the greatest game in the world but I wonder how they are going to import Gears of War characters into Lost Planet? Lost Planet played more like an update Contra lol.
If Microsoft is willing to do this for lost planet, they should let other franchises borrow GoW characters as well!! Call of Duty... Send them into WW2 or the present lol!
Monster Hunter? I didn't know. Awesome.
I got excited about Monster Hunter until I found out that it's a port of the 07 PC version. The Wii is getting the new game.
Honestly, it does sound like a desperate attempt at the Japanese market. Effective, but Desperate nonetheless, otherwise they wouldn't need a deal like that.
Honestly, I think it's a pretty smart marketing move. In all honesty, I wish more companies did stuff like this, get together in a way that promotes both games.
Along the same line, I love that the folks from Uncharted 2 allowed characters from games like Resistance to be part of the multi-player.
And I've read some comments in other sites dismissing Monster Hunter. Here it may not have nearly the bang, but in Japan that little game pushed the PSP ahead of the DS for like two months in sales, just for that game alone.
That's what I think it's a move specifically targeted at increasing Japanese users.
Monster Hunter is a blast multiplayer. It just has a learning curve
Damnit, I'm a sucker for crossovers.
That trailer was too awesome.....
Things like having Spartan 145 in DOA4 and the Hyabusa armor in Halo 3 just hit the cool spot with me.
Well don't get me wrong, I think the idea of a crossover video game is always fun, but...I just can't see Gears of War characters in a Capcom game. Kind of out of left field for me, but I dunno. Just sayin'...
Then again, we did get a crossover game with Mortal Kombat characters fighting DC Comics characters, so...
I LOVE cross overs!
You do realise the xbox just simply doesn't sell at all in Japan, only the big JRPG releases help sell the xbox's so they are trying to broaden its appeal. Supposedly they are going to be more forceful in making the western games more appealing so the public are not so reliable on just JRPG's, Capcom a popular Japanese company takes the first step in doing so.
You try and shift a popular focus from one game onto an upcoming one, its pretty sound marketing
Yes, but what Eric said still stands true. It's sound marketing born of a need to attract more users in a place where they are seriously lacking, hence his use of the word desperate. Nothing has worked thus far, but I think Monster Hunter is a huge enough title that it could move systems. Only problem is that it's a 3 year old port.
Lost Planet eventually came out for the PS3...i wonder when it does, how will they be doing this one. Swapping out GoW characters for some PS3 character or making the PS3 a stripped down version.
