Lorenzo DiBonaventura, one of the producers on Transformers, was interviewed by IESB at the premiere of Eagle Eye.

He says there's gonna be 3 times as many Transformers, lots of fan favorites, but is cagey on the "more Cybertron" question.

And Re: the trailers for GI Joe and Transformers, he says they're aiming for the holidays but it all depends on the visual effects.

wow. so about 40 robots. holy effenshite.

 

This is gonna be an awesome movie if:
1.This is true
2.They're able to give all the transformers adequate scrrentime as well as develop their characters significantly
This however may hurt my wallet.

 

If there really are that many, odds are only a handful will get significant development.

I'd wager a core group of Autobots, and maybe Starscream and/or Megatron will get significant development.

I expect most of Devastator (if not all) to get none for instance.

 

I know that's probably a rough estimate, but 3 times as many Autobots? That makes 15 or so this time around? So...

Hmm... for that to work, I wonder if the three "Arcee bikes" are actually three different characters? If not, I can only count 10 Autobots, maximum. We're either missing alot of Autobots, or the good guys are going to be really outnumbered this time around...

 

I don't mind if there are a few "Bonecrushers" in there as long as they all get one similarly spectacular sequence plus a cool toy.

 

The more giant robots the better IMO.

 

Even if a character doesnt get more than 30 seconds screen time, Id be happy with a cameo or representation of a given transformer name in the universe.

It wouldnt even matter if the image was Optimus prime glancing at teletran- with a communication with Vector Sig, or the aerialbots on cybertron, or whatever.

Just put a couple more on screen, they dont HAVE to have much extended screen time. Just throw a couple in there w cgi and Ill be happy.

Well, its supposed that Devastator is made of 7 cons, that's about the same number of cons in movie 1, I can see that happening.

The first thing I thought from this article is that it would be cool if there was a joe cameo in ROTF

 

HOLY EFFIN SH** that is best news I've heard yet about ROTF,and seeing how we're
getting 15 Autobots,and 24 Deceps in this movie I am now convinced that Hasbro knew
this back from the first movie.I mean look at all the back story.Arcee was made a robot
for the toy line,even tho she won't actually shown in the movie except in motorcycle
mode when Lennox got on her and rode.Next is Incinerator also being made,and I
think he will be in Bot Form in this movie.I just think Hasbro and Bay discussed this
during Movie 1,and Hasbro decided to throw us hints for this movie. What do yall
think?.

My guess is its 15-20 core characters .. while the remaining ones are just background roles, like in cybertron for example.
