Has anyone tried to make one or know how??
theres an action master version
the robot and cannon mode look very different? I can't see how he transforms into that?
If I were to make one, I'd use a G1 Galvatron as a base. The tripod looking base is quite similar to how Galvatron folds up underneath. The real problem is that head, and how you'd fit the cannon barrel into it. A lot of that stuff on top could go on his back, though - but to physically get one who looks like both modes is pretty near impossible. I'd go with an Action Master / non transforming one with optional "head in a jar" parts.
maybe an armada megatron would be the way to go. You might have to add some hinges t make the tripod look, but at least the turrent would be on the back and wouldn't ugly up the robot mode.
Don F. it wasn't
I have one in the works just figuring out all the logistics and I allready have the figure I am goib to make him out of I just have to get ambitious enough to start
I've been planning on a sort of liberal Straxus kitbash for a while... using Crumplezone from Cybertron. Straxus always seemed very thick and hulking, and it would be pretty easy to alter Crumplezone into a 3-wheeled cannon, or even a flying cannon (considering that despite the presence of wheels, all Straxus ever did in gun mode was fly). I was also planning on transplanting Movie Ratchet's head onto Crumplezone's body... with a bit of alteration, I think it could have the same "feel" as Straxus' head.
Though really... why anyone (including myself) cares about Straxus is beyond me.
Where did the G1-ish box art of him come from?
HEY MATT! How are ya! What figure were you thinking of using?
They definitely just fudged his alt mode when designing it.
The blue Dreadwind from the dreadwind and smoke jumper set, oh and doing good its nice to hear from ya again hope all is well
Smart choice. That figure totally has the right proportions for Straxus, not to mention an altmode that qualifies as flying firepower, and also has an intermediate ground artillery mode. Good call.
Can't wait to see it.
Do you have a pic of the Dreadwing in question?
You could always wait for the (possible) Movie Game Shockwave figure to turn up and build from the cannon mode of that one.
As much as I'd love for them to actually make a toy of the game Shockwave, I honestly doubt tht they will. As for Straxus, I don't know much about him, but, he does look cool. I can see some interesting bashes beeing made based off of him.
Here's a gallery. Not the blue version of that mold, but the black one... which is also a good colour to start from when making a Straxus bash:
I did a straxus out of energon barricade in my Liege Maximo combiner. I think Galvatron could work for him.
