Warner Promo Sneak Peeks 2009/2010 Blu-ray Slate | High-Def Digest
Excellent. I'll get that for sure, it'll look utterly amazing in HD.
I don't plan on rebuying very many movies when I finally do get an HDTV and Blu-Ray player, but Lord of the Rings is definitely one that would be worth picking up the hi-def format. Hopefully, it's the extended edition.
Originally, they were just going to release the theatrical versions one at a time. I hope they've changed those plans because I have no desire to trade in my extended editions box set for anything less than that.
I really had no intention in replacing my DVDs for BR, but if this does truly look amazing and better, then I may have to. I'll netflix them first and see.
I have the non-box extended editions. It doesn't have the usual featurettes on the bonus disks, but it has a completely new documentary following the crew and the cast during the filming. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any feature commentary. I love feature commentaries.
If it does come out as the complete set with all the featurettes from the box set, it'll be the first thing I pick up once I upgrade to blu-ray.
Is LotR getting a new HD transfer from the original studio master or are they simply upconverting the DVD transfer?
This will be the theatrical editions. The extended editions will come out to coincide with the Hobbit movies.
I can watch trees walking in high def? WOOT!
Awesome. Either theatrical or extended versions will make me happy as long as the transfer is good.
Now bring on Star Wars and Indy Lucas!!!
About time, this trilogy deserves the Blu-Ray treatment.
Don't care until I get an Epic 15 hour 8 Disc Movie.. No special features needed.. I just want the Movie.. with as many extra scenes as PJ can scrounge edited back in.. Rescored by Howard Shore, with No Credits until the Grey Havens have come and gone.
Its never going to happen, and so I see no reason to buy them on Blu Ray until it does..
I am going to freeze myself until the day this comes out. Hopefully I don't overshoot the release date by a few thousand years.
I'll only buy if its the extended cut as they are far superior and i can't bring myself to watch the theatrical versions at all.
My favorite movie of all time is Dark City, also Newline Cinema, but I have to admit, that the one series of movies that really just blows everything out of the water is the LOTR trilogy. Not for the effects, not for the fantasy, but because unlike any other movie, watching these really takes you away and captures the feeling of reading a book... Not the LOTR books because I know some liberties were taken.. I mean just reading in general.
I have the 'book' editions, and cannot justify a blu ray version. The movies still make me tear up.
I also have the book editions and to see Middle Earth in beautiful HD, I wouldn't mind buying them again.
Bump for update
