I got Dead End today, and Nightbeat. I had vowed not to buy any ROTF toys because I thought they all sucked, but I'm actually liking some of the vehicle modes (still hate the face sculpts). I'm definitely getting Bludgeon when he comes out.

I was the same way at first but gradually some of the figures grew on me, and I actually like quite a few of them now.

And see all the wonderful detail, the really unique and interesting designs, and just how cool they are as figures, with fun, complex transformations, and more than 2 or 3 points of articulation.

This thread is asking for trouble. Either people post about how ROTF toys suck, or about how nobody cares.

I love the vehicle modes with all the details and such a nice look can they bring to the vehicles.

But ouch I just can't take the robot modes. The faces don't appeal to me at all and some of the bodies seem weird for no other reason than to just see how weird you can make a robot look. Something about them being so thin that also reminds me of the Druid Army from Star Wars that I don't like either.

Now the hybrid figures are kind of growing on me. It seems like they somehow manage the cool vehicles of the movie line with a look that has enough of the past to make them really appealing even if the robot modes of the hybrid figures also have some movie features.

There is a happy middle ground out there, but the pure movie look will just never be appealing to someone like me so I'll be glad when there are more choices out there.

I agree. And, y'know, Leader Prime, Human Alliance Bumblebee, and several others speak very loudly about how well made these toys are.

No matter how bad the designs are, Has-Tak will find a way to make the toys fun. They're at the top of their game.

There's nothing wrong with liking the movie line. They're just different. Even if you don't like the line as a whole, there's no rule that says you have to dislike all of them, just like if you like a particular toyline, you're not obligated to like every toy.

I, personally, love the transformations of the movie line toys, and their realistic alt modes. Their bot modes tend to be very weird, and I can understand that some people don't like them - that's fine, we all have our own personal tastes. I like them, I think they match the movies very well. It's not my favorite (that being the Classics/Universe 2.0 line), but I feel like it works.

In fact, some of the non-movie ROTF toys are starting to lean towards a more "Classics" type feel, while still maintaining a movie style. ROTF Thrust, for example, while not a real conehead, doesn't look like he'd be too out of place on a Classics display. The upcoming Bludgeon is the same way.

They're good Transformers toys, it's just a question of whether or not you like the looks of them in bot mode. And with the upcoming ones, like Bludgeon, Mindwipe and Dirge, the line between movie and "traditional" appearances is starting to get blurred. Again, my opinion, of course.
