Where would be the best to get it and are they all the same version with the tin box? Also, if anyone has it does it come with english audio?

Ebay. I have the tin box, it has English audio and picture wise it's the same thing as the new Shout! Factory release, I'm pretty sure, because I bought that and compared them. It's a licensed import, make sure if you import you go for that one.

I would go to Shouts website and order the complete SERIES set. It costs about 140 bucks but it looks well worth it. Tons of special features that you dont get in the individual season releases and looks like much better quality than the rhino sets. Trust me when you see the spread on their site you will want this collection!!

That's true, I support getting the Shout! release now that they're re-releasing everything. I'm buying them again individually.

Yes it does. However, the set is on pre-order and it costs $140. Just so you know.

I already preordered mine. So what if it's expensive, it's worth it. The set comes with a book and magnets.

It's absolutely gorgeous. It was on display at Botcon and the dude who did the restoration was there pimping it. Super good guy, very enthusiastic fan.

Really? SWEET! It's definitely worth the wait for buying a superb DVD set of G1, then.

So whats the difference btw the matrix of leadership edition and the one in the tin box that is imported from china? Is it just the language standard?

The Chinese tin has English audio. Except for new extras I matched the picture quality between season 1 from Shout and the Chinese tin and they're the same. But this is a great looking set.

Ok so only difference is the the new extras and the boxes they come in. I guess it would be feasible to get whichever one was cheaper than.

There may be corrected animation on the new sets that the Chinese sets don't have, but I'm pretty sure the Chinese is all original broadcast stuff, and not the Rhino stuff. But someone please clarify.

I have this Season 1 boxset:

    I have these for Seasons 2 - 4:

Animation errors definitely weren't fixed for any of them. Don't know if there are any audio changes.

    Ebay:
I've got the tin box set off Ebay about 2 years ago. It cost me around $60 with shipping, and it's very good. Animation errors and all. If you're into special features this is not for you, but if you just want the episodes, IMO, the tin box is the way to go. I would recomend shelling out the extra cash for a 25th edition of the movie, though, because the version in the box is edited to 4:3 screen size and the audio is sub-par.

And what the heck is wrong with the fantastic UK complete DVD releases? None of them annoying "bumpers" interrupting the programme either. Compartively cheap too!

Of course, you'll need the ability to play Region 2 DVDs, but I imagine most of us have multi-region capabilities right...?
