as the title suggests. I've played re2 and sh1, and liked them both. the really rainy, misty weather up here in mass. has made the whole place look like a set out of one of those games. what are the best of those series?

Try Silent Hill 2 and 3 for the PC. You can get them for dirt cheap, and they'll look a lot better than they do on the PS2. Great games, both of them. I find Silent Hill 3 a bit scarier than 2, but they're both great.

Silent Hill 3. I have the PC version, and the mouse keyboard control is horrid, but if you have a USB controller, go it. Resident Evil REmake and Resident Evil 4 for GC. I hear Fatale Frame for the PS2 has really great ambience a well.

If you played SH 1, i'd say play 3 before 2. 3 has direct links to the story of 1.

But if you're using a PS2, you can get some extra scenes in SH 3 if you finish SH2 first and save it to the same meory card as SH3.

Lucky thing about the controls for Silent Hill on PC is that you can get a cheap (but acceptable) USB game pad and Silent Hill 3 for cheaper than most good PC games cost on their own.

Silent hill has a PC port? I'll have to check into that.

I'm going to throw in a vote for Eternal Darkness. It's not a jump out and yell boo kind of scary like RE but it's deffinately a deep down creepy game.

Every Silent Hill game so far except for the first one is on PC. Ironically, the original is a better experience on a PC with a good PS1 emulator than it is on the real hardware. I can't say that about many games at all.

RE4 is a good suggestion. If you currently have a Game Cube or plan on getting a Wii, go with the GC version. Same gameplay, much better graphics.

My first post recommended RE4! And yeah, if you have a GC, get Eternal Darkness. Such a mind trip.

Never played SH, but strongly recommend RE4, RE-Remake, and Eternal Darkness (the most underappreciated title of this generation).

Remake was okay; Resident Evil 4 is AMAZING.
And Eternal Darkness is one of the best games I have ever played.
