    it's gametap. gametap.com

and for $10 a month, "more than worth it" is an immense understatement.

Oh well my hopes are dashed, seems gametap isn't compatible with Windows 98

Have to admit though, that site plus the other thread in this sub-forum has gotten me waxing nostalgic for Sega Saturn games and such.

Oh my lovely Saturn,on that system I mastered my first fighting game,Marvel Superheroes and X-Men:Children of the Atom

Man I could pull of some SERIOUS air combos. As well as some serious Infinity Gem combos

Why are you still using Windows 98? That came out like 8 years ago.

Usually I don't care about people pirating Windows - after all, it still helps the platform - but if it's someone I don't like, I tend to let Microsoft know. It's fun.

Hell, if he's gonna do that, why even bother paying for Gametap. Roms, torrents, and abandonware FTW!

You know, there are other ways to play those old games without paying the $10 bucks a month.

illegal copy of windows? did i miss something?

legally? besides, the interface is simple and hassle-free and i like simple and hassle-free. and the sheer number of games is more than i'll ever play in my life. it also beats the hell out of paying for each game on a console.

Technically, you could run Windows 1.01 on the machine pictured.

Most PCs so old they are running 98 can't even run XP. You need a better processor than that, and most people who don't upgrade thier OS don't upgrade thier processor either. Make it an illegal copy of 2000, that might work for gametap.

You'd be surprised, you can scrape all but the earliest 98-era machines on XP as long as its tooled up with RAM and you arn't going to be doing anything clever.

Agreed. PII 400 w/256MB of RAM will run it OK. You'll be able to run little to no services in the background but it'll run.

To go off topic for a sec

I've had this PC since 2000 hence why I use Windows 98.It was the OS installed when this PC was built

So no I don't have enough RAM to operate XP.But that's okay,I'm just happy I know what the site is now :)

It's like Elvin said,if I put XP on this PC I couldn't have ANYTHING running in the backgroun meaning no spyware blockers or anti-virus programs w/ autoprotect.

And LOL @ the pic Funkatron101 posted :lol
