Anyone watching the Superman documentary on A&E?
I have it set to record tonight. Hope to see some new movie footage.
Was it good?
I watched it and thought it was really good. Reminded me alot of the Star Wars doc that was made a couple of years ago before Ep III came out.
I think its still on. I watched a little bit of it, then came out here to the computer. I'm hoping its on another night
I liked it. It was narrated by Spacey and went over the history of the Superman franchise, starting from the comic book, to television (live action, cartoon) to film. It even mentioned some that never made it to air (Superpup - actors dressed up as animals, a black & white Superboy series) and of course Christopher Reeves
The documentary was 2 hours on A&E with commercials. The DVD is 2 hours (so some stuff was cut out) and will be out June 20, 2006.
It will also be on again June 17th on A&E at 1PM EST according to the website. It's on again right now too (it started at 12).

Might have to get the dvd.
There's a review of the documentary over at Superman Homepage. Check it out.
I'll look for a torrent, sounds good.
I was going to set my VCR to tape it, but I had wrestling set to tape and I was at work and...
Is A&E showing it again this week or next?
I thought it was very enjoyable, but it had the dubious choice of telling you about the 90s-2000s Bruce Timm cartoons for about 2 minutes, and about 15 minutes on Smallville.
My favorite part: Anette O'Toole (Lana/Martha) saying something like, "What? There was a Superman 4?" (pause) "I'm really sorry, I don't think I've seen it." I don't think she was faking that surprise/confusion, either. Hilarious moment.
I recommend anyone watch this documentary. It was quite informative.
I reeeeeeeeeeeally want to see the 70s musical now. It looked HILARIOUS. Superman gets hit with a table in mid-song, and he keeps on singing.
^^^Okay, I partially retract my critique about the Timm cartoons getting very little mention. Apparently, the TV version is 30 minutes shorter than the DVD version. While I still think Superman: the Animated Series is loads more interesting than Smallville, it's reassuring to know that the DVD is longer, and that the TV version was edited for time.
The original comic Superman was scary looking!
It was good, but the original creators just disappeared. I wanted to know what happened to them.
I missed the first hour. I caught from the first Chris Reeve movie on. But the documentary (from what I saw) was really good. I was really surprised at some of the commentators (Morgot Kidder for one). Some of the insight was really spectacular.
And for those that didn't know, a recut Superman 2 is coming out on DVD. This will have most of Donner's work restored to the film.
Wow, that will be interesting to see. Will celophane symbol make the cut? I hope not!
I'm not sure. I am hoping the alternate version of Lois finding out Clark is Superman is there.
She pulls a gun on Clark in the hotel room, and shoots. Clrk takes off his glasses and says that if he wasn't Superman, Clark would have been killed. She replies "even if the gun had blanks?".
That was Donner's version.
Oh snap, that sounds cool. Good for Donner making Lois more skeptical.
It was really good. I enjoyed it. The funny thing was the all promos for the Rock Paper Scissors competetion.
I see clouds
Dude, I laughed sooo hard when I saw those. My wife thought it was a joke.
